Inspiration & Focus I
describe the scope of my subject matter as ‘eclectic’ because the inspiration for my work are subjects that stir the imagination and pluck the heartstrings. The subjects are allegories of life, whether it is a nostalgic scene of a boy at a fishing hole or a humorous western image of a cowboy and a horse in a precarious situation, they depict places or events we have experienced in some manner or places that we have been, wish we were or imagined. The western humor and nostalgic paintings have been published nationally as greeting cards by Leaning Tree Greetings in Boulder, Colorado since 1980. They remain my most widely published, recognizable and popular work. Surprisingly, their subject matter seems to know no geographical boundaries of popularity. Based on comments, letters and emails that I have received over the years it is apparent that they are equally appreciated in rural and metropolitan areas and among different cultures and nationalities around the globe.
The Original Paintings
The originals are held in private collections. I offer museum-grade prints on canvas and giclee in various venues including galleries and on-line locations. This marketing stragety provides access to the widest demographic as well as the best revenue opportunites for galleries and retail outlets. Some of the on-line links are listed on the inside front cover.
