WORK SPACE
PROGRAM The swell of the curves reveals a winter garden on one side and a co-working space on the other. Each apartment unit inhabits the curve uniquely and its shape provides density for the building and efficiency for its residents. The curved walls are lit from below to provide guidance and safety to the residents of the building. The services to fill the poche between the hallway and the units, providing a sound barrier and storage.
PROGRAM To provide harmony between the old and new NYCHA buildings, the public green space covers the entire lot, allowing the new residences to hover above it. Climatized double height hallways provide views from floor to floor and protect winter gardens from the outdoor air during cold months.
CHELSEA SANCTUARY This sanctuary space focused on the different ways in which natural daylight can enter spaces to create awe inspiring and intimate moments. The concept is centered around the idea of the cloister, where all the program rotates around an outdoor space meant for a variety of activities.
Lighting concepts within Sanctuary
PROGRAM The form of the plan was generated by studying the shadows on the site and using the space with the best light throughout the year as the cloister. This positioning of the cloister allows light to bounce from the cloister into the sanctuary throughout the year.
PROGRAM The cloister space leaves the program up to the user to allow a variety of activities to occur in an open space. The main sanctuary space is lit from a skylight above and its distributed as a glow by a translucent membrane than spans the entire east wall.
QUEENS BIKE HUB The Queens bike hub provides a place of respot for pedestrians and bikers alike on their commute to work or leisurely stroll. The program includes a coffee shop, a repair shop, green spaces, changing rooms and a place for bike parking.

PROGRAM The bike lane slices through the site, allowing the architecture to provide a safety barrier from the highway. Programs fills either side of the bike lane so that bikers can pull over and enjoy a coffee or park their bikes and hop on the subway to commute to work.
