New Look Post Office & Shop
Following the creation of a Community Interest Company and many months of careful preparation, the post office in Groombridge along with its new retail companion “The Shop on the Corner” is now open to the public. Fully refurbished and redesigned, the post office and its friendly staff are eager to welcome customers with all the services one expects from your local post office. Somewhat uniquely, The Shop on the Corner is run by volunteers. Well trained and friendly members of the local community are willingly giving up their time to support this vital local asset. This lends an air of community to the shop that is seldom found in these days of high commercialisation and multinationals. With easy access and ample parking this is a fantastic addition to this quintessential village shopping parade. Well done to all involved for saving the local post office for the community!
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS URGENTLY REQUIRED
Age Concern Uckfield and District offer a free transport service to doctor and hospital appointments for the elderly in the TN22 postal area to those who don’t have transport of their own.
Our charity has been going for over twenty-five years with volunteer drivers who get paid up to fifty pence per mile. The number of drivers we have at the moment are not able to keep up with demand.
