MISSISSIPPI QUEEN

central retail area

Cville Carnivores is a nursery, display garden, and research center for carnivorous plants. The site is organized by region. “Sweet Tea Please” plants evoke the North Carolina and Virginia piedmont/ coastal plain seepage bogs. “Mississippi Queen” plants evoke the Louisiana eastern hillside seepage bog. “Carpetbaggers,” located in the greenhouse and a small upland display bog, consist of exotic and northern carnivorous species.

NOTES Form is wider than other pines, with an “explosive” look. Found onsite--possibly transplant existing trees? Plant as a sculptural piece in the edge of the bog. Seeds eaten by turkey, ducks, waterfowl. domes provide watering opportunities for birds and mammals. Tapped for turpentine and resin and logged for construction timers and pulpwood. Fast growing tree with multiple leaders
