Spell Research If you wish, shuffle your discard pile into your research deck. If you wish, spend coins to boost research: 1 coin = draw 1 extra card 5 coins = keep 1 extra card (but no more than double the number you would otherwise draw or keep) Draw 4 research deck cards, keep 1, and discard the rest. Various cards increase this. Teach spells Two Magi may teach up to two known spells to each other. Both find and add those cards to their known spells, then shuffle their research and discard together. Uses an action for both magi.
Mana use rule : When spending mana you may instead use a pair of mana, one from each of the adjacent elements.

Magus is a game for 3 or 4 players, where each player plays a powerful wizard seeking to amass more magical power and perform the Great Rites. Turn summary Each turn is a season. Each Magus does the following phases, playing clockwise from the first player marker: Start of the season Equinox phase Declare actions Resolve any Magi duels Resolve each action Move on the season marker Declare actions Each Magus declares their action by moving their marker to one of the locations in the play areas: One of the four mana springs One of the six market cards One of the four encounter cards The Great Rite Circle Their own sanctum If two Magi move to the same location, a duel occurs. Magi dueling Each player plays a duelling technique card from their hand, then compare them: Fire beats Air, Air beats Water, Water beats Earth, Earth beats Fire If the same or opposite elements are played, compare the art scores of the played cards. The highest wins. If tied, the player nearest clockwise the first player marker wins The winner will get their intended action. The loser goes back to their sanctum and can take a sanctum action instead
Equinox phase Update the play area, depending on the current season Spring: Discard the rightmost encounter, move the others along and add a new encounter card on the empty space on the left Pass the first player marker clockwise Summer: Discard any already sideways market cards. Rotate the remaining market cards sideways to show their cost has reduced. Replace discarded market cards with new market cards facing up Autumn: Draw 9 random mana tokens from the bag and place them on the matching mana spring for that type Winter: Each Magus gains coins in income.
