DAY 3 I LAMAR VALLEY Rise early for a safari in the Lamar Valley to search for bison, bears, elk, and the elusive gray wolf—reintroduced here in 1995. DAYS 1–2 I BOZEMAN, MONTANA/ MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WYOMING Arrive in Bozeman and gather for a welcome dinner. The next morning, drive through majestic Paradise Valley and stop for a picnic on the way to Mammoth Hot Springs, just inside Yellowstone National Park. DAYS 4–5 I GRAND CANYON OF THE YELLOWSTONE/UPPER GEYSER BASIN At the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, take a short walk to view towering waterfalls set against a dazzling red and gold palette. Continue to the Upper Geyser Basin and witness the clockwork eruption of Old Faithful. Then explore this stunning geothermal landscape with our expert. Old Faithful Inn or Old Faithful Snow Lodge Meals: 2B, 2L, 2D DAYS 6–8 I GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK/JACKSON Journey south to the saw-toothed Teton Range. Visit Murie Ranch, and enjoy a float trip on the Snake River. Enjoy a docent-led tour of the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson. Scott Wilbor Ecologist Scott Wilbor is an ecologist, explorer, and remote-sensing analyst who works with National Geographic’s Visualization Lab to map land use and land cover changes. Scott initiated Audubon’s Important Bird Areas Program in Arizona, and coordinated it for 11 years. His expertise is in “big picture” ecosystem conservation planning, climate adaptation, and biodiversity conservation. Find the departure(s) Scott will join on our website.
