DAYS 1–4 I NORTH ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND Land in Auckland. Visit the Auckland War Memorial Museum and explore Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, home to rare birds and kauri trees. In Rotorua, learn about ancient Maori culture in Whakarewarewa village. See the mud pools and geysers of Te Puia, and stop by the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. Tour a kiwi hatchery, then explore the mystical forests of Whirinaki.
