DAYS 1–2 I VANCOUVER, CANADA/KAMLOOPS Explore Vancouver’s Stanley Park and see the famous seawall. The next day, board the Rocky Mountaineer and enjoy breathtaking views en route to Kamloops. Wedgewood Hotel and Spa; Hotel 540 or Sandman Signature Kamloops Hotel Meals: 1B, 1L, 1D
DAYS 3–5 I JASPER NATIONAL PARK As we enter the Rockies aboard the train, ride by Pyramid Creek Falls and cross the Continental Divide at Yellowhead Pass. Glide by soaring Mount Robson, the tallest summit in the Canadian Rockies. Disembark in Jasper and continue to our lakeside lodge in Jasper National Park. Enjoy a scenic cruise on Maligne Lake, on the lookout for moose, elk, and caribou. The next day, enjoy a float trip along the Athabasca River, or soar via the Jasper SkyTram to a lookout point more than 7,000 feet above sea level. Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge | Meals: 3B, 2L, 1D
DAYS 6–8 I ATHABASCA GLACIER/BANFF NATIONAL PARK/YOHO NATIONAL PARK/ CALGARY Travel along the Icefields Parkway toward Banff National Park, stopping at the Athabasca Glacier for a guided trekking expedition atop the ice. Settle into our historic hotel on the shores of Lake Louise, and explore Banff and Yoho National Parks on a series of hikes. Discover Moraine Lake and Emerald Lake, and view the Spiral Tunnels of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Jeremy Schmidt Wildlife Biologist Jeremy Schmidt has worked and lived in and around Yellowstone National Park and the Tetons for more than 30 years, including stints as a park ranger; a naturalist; and a photographer. Jeremy is also an author, having published several articles for National Geographic and National Geographic Traveler, as well as books on the national parks—including the Northern Rockies—for National Geographic and others.
