DAY 1 I AMMAN, JORDAN Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer is included.

DAY 2 I AMMAN Explore Jerash, one of the largest and most well-preserved Roman ruins outside of Italy. Afterward, visit a G Adventures–supported café run by local women—an activity exclusively for our travelers. Here, take a cooking class and enjoy lunch. Then return to Amman and visit the National Museum and the Amman Citadel, an archaeological site that dates back to the Bronze Age.

DAY 3 I MADABA/WADI MUSA Depart early on the road to Petra. Stop at Mount Nebo and take in stunning views of the Dead Sea from the summit. Continue to Madaba, famed for its Byzantine mosaics. Then arrive in Wadi Musa, our base for exploring Petra, and enjoy a talk by an archaeologist about the ongoing excavations at the UNESCO World Heritage site. DAY 4 I PETRA Rise early to visit iconic Petra, once the capital of the ancient Nabatean Arabs. Enjoy a guided walking tour of this enchanting rock-cut city; then opt to hike to the top of the Treasury for magnificent views, or enjoy free time to explore the site on your own. In the evening, opt to return to Petra for a visit by candlelight.

DAY 5 I WADI RUM Continue to Wadi Rum in the heart of Jordan’s desertscape. This otherworldly landscape was made famous by T. E. Lawrence and the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia. Enjoy lunch at our camp, followed by an exciting 4×4 excursion into the desert, where we pick the perfect spot to watch the sun set. Return to camp for a traditional Bedouin feast, and take a walk in the desert to admire the night sky.

DAY 6 I WADI RUM/DEAD SEA Opt to take an early morning camel trek across the desert. Later, visit a G Adventures–supported community café for lunch in a lush agricultural area surrounded by desert. Continue to the famed Dead Sea. Opt to float in the salty waters, and give yourself a spa treatment using the area’s natural sea salts and therapeutic mud.

DAY 7 I DEAD SEA/AMMAN Enjoy a visit to the archaeological site of Bethany Beyond the Jordan, thought to be the site where Jesus was baptized. Return to Amman and enjoy an optional farewell dinner.

DAY 8 I AMMAN Depart at any time.
