Letter from the editor March is our music issue and we celebrate all things music . The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context. Music ranges from strictly organized compositions (and their recreation in performance), through improvisational music to aleatoric forms. Music can be divided into genres and subgenres, although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to individual interpretation, and occasionally controversial. One thing that is for sure is that we all need it. Most of us don’t go a day without it. On the cover of this months magazine, Laura Marano a sixteen year old song writer, singer and actress shows us on her TV series Austin & Ally just how important music is. This month take the time to listen to all your favorite songs. I know that if I’m feeling a bit down all I need to do is turn up the music and a smile is instantly on my face. My close friends play the piano and when they are feeling down all they need to do is sit down and start to play and the whole room lights up with joy. We will also be featuring handmade in America. We hand picked the handmade and came up with a list that has something for everyone. Not only are these products Made in America but they are made with so much love. In today’s world, we have many choices to choose from when streaming free music. The top three most mentioned include: Pandora, Spotify, and iHeartRadio. I have successfully downloaded all three of these onto my cellphone and will give you some basic information about each; as well as review their features, ease of use, cons, advertisement frequency and give them a rating from 1-5 stars (five being the best).
1. Pandora Mission: “To play only music you'll love.” Founders: Will Glaser, Jon Kraft, and Tim Westergren Something interesting: In Greek Pandora means "all gifted".
Review: •Advertisement frequency: High •Features: Can share stations with other users, has conserve battery feature, •and has a higher audio quality feature. •Cons: Lots of advertisements, still drains battery quite a bit • (but still not as much as others if conserve battery feature is on). • Ease of use: High – easiest out of the 3 to navigate •and a very clean looking layout

Review: 2. iHeartRadio •Motto: “Real & custom radio stations.” •Owner: Clear Channel Broadcasting, Inc. •Something interesting: Uses a special, exclusive, Discovery Tuner to help you control how much variety you want in your music. Review: •Advertisement frequency: Low •Features: Sleep timer, Facebook and e-mail login, Ford SYNC for Ford vehicles that have AppLink, local stations, ability to create custom stations, and Discovery Tuner. Cons: Drains phone battery. Ease of use: Medium – pretty clean layout and simple to navigate
3. Spotify Motto: “Music for every moment.” Founders: Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon Something interesting: Spotify was created in Sweden. Advertisement frequency: Medium Features: Bases radio off the playlists you have saved on your computer, can see what songs friends are listening to, and has a privacy feature where what you’re listening to is hidden from other users. Cons: Only 6 skips while listening to each radio station, can’t listen to your own playlists (unless you buy the premium version of Spotify), and drains phone battery. Ease of use: Medium/Low – Has some cool features, but can’t use any of them unless you get a premium account. Fashion Week Highlights Spring Summer 2013 Fashion Week was some what hard to describe. There were some very well put together collections and some horrific collections. For some of these designers I’m not sure if the economy took it’s toll on them but it seems like they have given up.

Fashion Week Highlights Nanette Lepore Spring 2013 I enjoyed this seasons collection. The collection's hyper-bright palette, which leaned heavily on pinks, yellows, and greens, and its flora and fauna motifs. A green silk-wool floral print carried both themes particularly well.
Fashion Week Highlights Calvin Klein Spring 2013 Francisco Costa Francisco Costa closed New York fashion week with a collection that delivered. He opened with a black satin conical bustier dress, the model's belle poi trine outlined in silver. All signs pointed to the bust as this collection's focal point. Peplums played a starring role, and narrow belts accented most of the looks. A pair of puttycolored silk gazar numbers might go down as the shortest dresses this designer has ever put on a runway. I loved this collection, one of the best this season had to offer.

Fashion Week Highlights Nicole Miller Spring 2013 I must be honest I was so disappointed with this collection stretch pants and badly made tops really do not need a runway show. If the designer is going to put this out there “Please” save us all a trip and email the look book!. As I sat there and watched these models walk down the catwalk all I could think was “where am I” Why did the models do their own hair and makeup?

Fashion Week Highlights Rag & Bone Spring 2013 This collection was by far the worst of the week. The clothes did not fit the models, the hems were uneven and the color combo was tasteless. The shoes looked like the models brought them from home and the models that were holding a purse did not know how to carry the bag!
Fashion Week Highlights Tracy Reese Spring 2013 Can someone point me to Kmart. Say what you will about prints being the spring trend but where is the cohesiveness to this collection? This was all over the place. The entire collection only had two pieces that I found to be wearable. I’m not a fan of prints to begin with but this collection reaffirmed what I believe a few prints in a collection okay, twenty different prints in one collection not so much!

If you require more power, more punch, then you may want the revival design whereas the original is better suited for a finger picking style.

Miss Malibu USA 2013 Brittany McGowan is not your stereotypical pageant girl. Intrigued by film theory, and passionate about work behind the camera, McGowan is not defined by any title or stereotype. Born and raised in Burbank, California this L.A. native surprisingly describes herself as "shy" and an introvert. "Growing up I was really shy and kept to myself, but I've always had big dreams.“ It was her shyness that inspired her to compete in Pageantry. "Pageantry was a challenge for me. It made me come out of my shell and find my confidence." What also inspired McGowan to compete was the opportunity to make an impact on teens. “I want to showcase that it’s OK to just be who you are, and be a ‘relatable’ role model for teens. That’s my goal, that’s my message—just be you,” she said. Since she has been crowned McGowan has worked hard on a personal project called My World My Way. My World My Way is a personal development philosophy made for teens dedicated to strengthening three basic fundamentals: Self Awareness, Self-Respect, and Self-Reliance. “I want to help build their self-assurance and inspire kids to want the best lives for themselves. Sometimes all that means is just listening and reminding them that they matter. That’s the kind of role model I want to be.” McGowan has already begun putting My World My Way into action by reaching foster kids through the nonprofit organization Safety Harbor Kids, as well as the Boys and Girls Club. Aside from her humanitarian efforts McGowan has a passion for film and plans to make an impact in the film industry. "I am a huge film buff, and want to eventually end up behind the camera producing and directing. Kathryn Bigelow is one of my role models. I want to follow in her footsteps.“ When asked what advice she would give to someone who wanted to compete in a pageant McGowan said she found success through “knowing herself” and having fun. “At the end of the day there’s only one girl who wins. Sometimes you’re that girl, sometimes you’re not. She’s a daddy’s girl to the core and a loving little sister to her three older siblings (who affectionately call her their “little monster” because she likes to play practical jokes on them). What influences you to write music? I try to pull all of my music from every day experience. I have conversations with my friends. I wrote a record about abuse because my friend was in an abusive relationship with another one of my friends I was not aware of. And of course I was like I’m so mad I’m going to write a song. I pull everything from conversations and basic things. I get inspired by traffic, by bugs, and being broken heated. I try to pull from real life. That’s what makes it real. Can you further explain the title of your EP Vomit? It’s an interesting title. What is the meaning behind it when you say “Eat up inspiration and vomit up creation.”
[Laughs] Yes, I think naming it vomit…First of all you would go ‘why would she name it vomit? That’s disgusting. Why would she call it that?’ Vomit was a seven song EP that I felt like I spit up. Each song was either written in ten minutes, fifteen, and recorded it an hour. It got to the point where I was so inspired over the years and I built up so much and worked with amazing producers and labels and all this stuff. It got to the point I was literally spitting up mixtures of everything that I learned. [Sings] ‘Is that a full song?’

Singing to your self? Yes, I would see it in my dreams and would wake up with full songs. I’d know how the drums went and everything. It’s pretty much overall a compilation of all the things that I’ve metaphorically digested as an artist. I think it’s all the instruments I love and what I’ve learned from all the producers I’ve worked with. So I was literally spitting up records. So I decided to say vomit. Some people said that’s kind of smart. Some people were like that’s disgusting. Either way it got their attention.How did you get started on Beyonce impressions on YouTube? Those are by far the best impressions I’ve seen. Especially the video of Beyonce reacting to Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy. [Laughs] Honestly I didn’t think anything would come from it. I’ve been doing voices since I was a child. My dad on the ride to school would go ‘ok we have 15 minutes. How many characters can you get in 15 minutes?’ So that was my childhood. I would go from talking like this [southern accent] From talking like this [British accent] To speaking like Dorothy and talking like this. [Dorothy from Wizard of Oz voice] I would go from voice to voice to voice, so as a kid I didn’t know that was acting; that was school rides. So with Beyoncé, I’m just going to post a dumb video of me mimicking her and they are all improvised. I never write anything. I just put on a wig and go. I sang for ten seconds in the video and through those labels found me. The videos was on YouTube for so long that they finally watched it for entertainment and that’s how everything started. Tell us more about your music videos and how you come up with your own video concepts. I have to, I have to. I feel like that’s giving so much creative control away if someone is coming up with the video concepts. It’s your vision. I get a lot of it in my dreams or when I’m recording. With “Go Fish” I know I wanted a black and white video; kind of blurred. I wanted to flip it. I wanted an attractive guy to be the abuser because I think people always think of the ugly guys hurting women when it can be the most beautiful man in the world and that was the situation with my friend. How did you come up with the track “AK 47”? I was in a relationship with somebody and they were unfaithful. I started to have dreams about the girl. I’d hear her name and it got to the point where it would haunt me. So AK-47 I want to clear up -It’s not a song about murder and killing somebody. It’s a song about killing memories of somebody because they are infecting your head so bad you want to kill them in your head. I heard that beat and I felt like a Killer. I was like I’m going to write this crazy song. I think it’s real; you physically cannot go strangle a girl if she cheats with your boyfriend. You just have to handle it. All I wanted to do is kill her in my dreams because you’re starting to affect my everyday life and you’re not even present. I think as a woman it’s so easy to blame the woman who cheats not the man and so AK-47 is kind of battling that. So that’s why in the music video they both end up dead. Nationalistmag.com 51

Tell us more about why you chose to do spoken word on the track “Free” and how you came up with those lyrics. It was inspired by the same person [ex-boyfriend]. For fun; some go out to parties and drink with their friends, I go to poetry lounges and sit there and just get inspired. That’s my Tuesday night. I go to the poetry lounge. I love Lauryn Hill and if you listen to her lyrics she’s a poet. Bob Marley, a poet. So I wanted to experiment. I was like, does are generation get poetry? Should I try it? Do they like spoken word? Is it annoying to them? I think its back in style to have substance. To see that people even reacted on it was so cool. I thought it was awesome. I’m going to be doing more spoken word. I’ve been writing poetry forever. What is one thing you would like your listeners, fans, and new fans to now about your EP Vomit? I want them to know that I did it by myself. A lot of people think my career got started because my dad [Robert Townsend] was in the industry. I know many celebrity kids who had things handed to them. With me I want them to know that I did the project by myself. I was in the studio long nights by myself, I wrote the records by myself, and set up my outfits by myself. It really is a beautiful thing for them to appreciate my work. What new projects do you having going forward? I am dropping a record called noreg and I’m working on my second project; my second EP. I just finished my first film and I’m also working on the second season of my show on BET. We are trying to develop it into a full series. As far as music it’s still coming from an honest place but lyrically I’m in happier place. It’s still a little bit dark but I don’t want it to be too lovey dovey. When can we anticipate your debut album? I don’t know. I’ve been working with labels since I was thirteen years old and it has not ever been the right time to sign. I’m picky about deals. I don’t think it’s about the money because money disappears then you’re screwed. I would want a label to be behind me when I drop my first album. As far as EP goes I don’t mind giving that away for free because I’m still performing and I act so that’s kind of my income. I just want people to hear it. I have visions; I have dreams. I wake up and have a full blown song and music video. I can’t have someone tell me what to sing about. Where can your fans reach you at? My twitter is the easiest way. Being the best you can be- by Arnold Jones When it comes to our personal health we all know how important it is be participating in some sort of physical, mental or emotional exercise that will keep our bodies active. I really believe that we need to find a way to work all three of these aspects into our daily life on a regular basis. As I was contemplating which aspect within the large and diverse topic of health I would write about this month, I really began pondering what it truly means to be healthy. There is so much information on the internet as well as in books and magazines that sometimes I believe we have such a hard time even figuring out where or how to begin and what aspect of ourselves we should begin with. This single topic is so diverse and yet constantly changing. There are diets which include specific types of foods that have been proclaimed to have various healing abilities, as well as drinks and thousands of diet plans for us to choose from. There is also all of the marketing that is being delivered to us through various channels at any given time. There are cable networks such as DirecTV and DISH that have specific channels dedicated to health, medical research and exercise. This alone can be overwhelming. Then there are magazines from fitness to yoga which is in all books stores like Barnes and Noble, and online. All of these channels of advertisement are enough to put our minds in overload. This does not even cover books or the many other advertisement avenues that are available to us. So where do we begin? This is really the big question that looms over us daily. There are so many avenues but yet they all have one thing in common other than reading and implementing This is Music. According to the Mayo Clinic and the Huntington post music can have various effects on our bodies which range from reducing feelings of anger or anxiety to even aiding in boosting our memory and allowing us to relax so the cells within our own body are able to heal faster. The important part of listening to music is definitely selecting the genre you like and then finding music with different messages being portrayed whether with just notes or with words as well. Everyone responds to music in different ways. One study produced by Cleveland Clinical Researchers specifically targeted individuals with Parkinson’s disease and found that those which listened to pure melodies were more relaxed when undergoing brain surgery. The researchers reported that some of these patients not only demonstrated lower levels of anxiety but this also assisted in them falling to sleep faster. Surgery is a stressful thing as it is. I could not imagine having to go through brain surgery while having Parkinson’s disease. This sounds very overwhelming to me alone. I found the following information while researching this topic as well. This is quoted by researchers from the University of Maryland Medical Center in which they stated “They found a link between listening to music and heart health. The researchers found that listening to joyful music is linked to dilation of blood vessels’ inner lining, meaning more flow of blood through the blood vessels. Specifically, the diameter of blood vessels grew by 26 percent when a person listened to happy music. However, the opposite effect was noted when a person listened to anxiety-triggering music—blood vessel diameter decreased by 6 percent as a result. 54 Nationalistmag.com
Now I am not sure what these researchers mean in regards to happy music or anxiety-triggered music. I can only assume from the various types of music that I listen to that, happy music would be country or classical music as this is relaxing to me. Gangster, rap, heavy metal, and punk rock would be anxiety-triggering music in my case. This does not mean that either one of these types of music is better than the other. We all have our own music genres that we enjoy and I think that is great. This can be vice versa for you. I do believe that music is a foundation or triggering point with our inner being. The reason I say this is that if you ever pay attention to when you drive your car to work or just out joy riding. Think about what types of music you listen to when you are driving around peacefully, when you are anxious due to traffic congestion or when you have just had an argument with your spouse, family member or loved one. Also pay attention to the type of music you listen to when you exercise. I am not talking about the band name or just the genre in general. I am talking about the tone of the music, the words or melody, the rhythm, etc. I believe there is a pattern to what we listen to with various aspects of our daily lives as well as when inflictions or trials occur whether they are positive or negative ones. If you attend church really listen to the music being played from the words to the melody as well. You will notice that not all religious music is relaxing some of it brings up memories both recent and from the past. Music has a large impact on our daily lives. The next time you go for a walk around the block, in the park, in a nature reserve or in the country pay attention to the wind and listen to it. There are different pitches within the wind alone. Even though they are so delicate you can hear them if you stop and actually listen. There is the chirping from the birds, the rustling of leaves, twigs breaking, etc. There are so many different sounds that surround us daily that are relaxing, stimulating, adrenaline pushing, etc. There is also another aspect of music or noise that has probably the most prolific effect on our bodies that occurs throughout the day. This is that sound of people talking, singing, humming, yelling, etc. on a regular basis and then there is the dreadful noise of the voice in our heads. Our personal thoughts both positive and negative. I personally believe that our world as we know it is a constant drum beat of music. The biggest and hardest type to listen to is that personal voice we all have that is constantly going on inside of our heads. Once we learn how to control this then I believe we can begin figuring out how to truly find a way to become fit on all levels. Just as important is those that are around us. We need to learn to use the filters that we have been given which is tuning in positive and negative sound vibrations or music on a daily basis. Listening to the right melodies and words of a song or just enjoying the quiet hum of our surroundings is all just as important as any other aspect. Music is to our sole as exercise is to our muscles. We need to use them daily. We need to feed our bodies. Food and exercise alone will not bring us to that eternal state of happiness and health that we strive to achieve. I believe music is a very important aspect of life that we all need to embrace each and every day of our lives. Being healthy requires us to be constantly alert of our surroundings, our food intake, our exercise levels, our medical health and what type of information or to break it down further, what type of music we are putting into our bodies. Music is harmony and is there if we truly just open all of our senses and listen. -

Tell us about your roots and how you got started. I was born in Miami, Florida. My mom is Cuban and my dad is also Hispanic, but I was born in the Bronx, NY. I first started acting in Miami. I had the opportunity to come to LA and I begged my parents for that chance. We originally came out here for 3 months. It is now 5 years later and we have not left. Tell us where are some of your favorite places to shop. I love to shop at Top Shop. Which by the way, I am pretty excited that one opened in LA!! Now that you are on a hit TV show what parts of your life have changed? Well, other than some people coming up to me at times, not much. My parents do a pretty good job at keeping it normal for me. I still have to do chores, and clean my room, so I guess I am like everyone else. Tell us about the day you found out you landed the role. It was pretty exciting! This was the first big role that I have worked on. So when my manager came to my house to tell me, I immediately called my grandparents in Miami and told them the great news. Did you already know the other cast members or did you meet them on set? We actually met when we were testing for the show. It was one of those where you have instant chemistry with each other and it's been like that since.

There are many different kinds of food that I like, Italian and Chinese, but in my opinion there is nothing better than my mom's home cooked Cuban food. When you’re not working or doing school work what do you like to do for fun? I love playing basketball. Tell us something that no one knows about you? I am not sure if people know this about me but I love being creative and writing music. I think as time has passed by I have gotten better as a song writer. Where is your favorite place to travel? I have not had the opportunity to travel a lot because of my schedule. My goal is to travel to as many countries as possible to learn about their culture and language. Have you ever had a crazy fan moment? Yes, I've had a few but the one that stands out the most was one in Miami. A fan came up to me wanting to take a picture. She was with her father. She came up to me, put her arm around me and posed for the picture. While smiling and waiting for her father to take the picture, her father said, can I have the phone to take the picture? Her reaction to that was priceless! If you could only take 3 things to a deserted island what would they be, and why? I would take a girl, a lighter and a machete. The reason I would take a lighter is to be able to use it to cook our meals and burn a fire to keep us warm at night. And the machete would come in handy as I would need to cut wood to make our shelter. Do you consider yourself a role model? and how do you feel about being one?
I don't think of myself as a role model. I always try to be the best person I can be and hopefully that helps others. Nationalist loves to support American made products, Do you try to buy any American made products? I love to support American made products too. Tell us about your music and what we can expect this coming year. My music is pop with a dash a Latin flavor. I am actually in the studio right now and will keep you updated. Who are your music influences? I love all styles of music. But the people who influence me are Marc Anthony, Justin Timberlake and Pitbull. ReView She Wants Revenge She Wants Revenge was about to take the stage when the sound of a pulsating heartbeat could be felt and heard through the loud speakers. Anticipation began as heart beats, clock sounds, and the red lights illuminated the banner on the stage of a bloomed rose, the one that can been seen on the bands new album cover. The lights searched the crowd and the stage as the band began to play. The creepy instrumental music called “First Love” opened the show and is also first track on the new Album.
Adam Bravin stepped behind the keyboard while Justin Warfield swayed his hips in a sort of diabolical Elvis impression.
Warfield welcomed the crowd and they applauded him back with shouts, screams, and applause. Then the band took a moment to yell back at the crowd, saying how much they love Orange County and discussing that last appearance they had made to the OC. He said that they were going to perform a combination of songs from their two CD’s “This is Forever” the newest release from She Wants Revenge and their debut CD “This Love Forever”. Their sound is dark but not demeaning or angry and influenced by 80's dark wave acts such as Joy Division and Bauhaus.

ReView She Wants Revenge The band did just that as they started playing their first song “These Things”. Bravin on Keys and synth produced an additional beat to give the performance more complexity and get the crowd moving. The set list heated up when they played their two most popular singles “Tear You Apart” from their debut CD. Bravin made the already grim song sound almost apocalyptic. The plucking of the guitar was overridden next to the drum machine. Some new tracks such as “Written in Blood,” and “True Romance” were highlights from the upbeat numbers of the show. To much disappointment the band did not perform their key song “Time” with their collaboration with Timberland, one of the best tracks off the “Shock Value” CD, but the concert was jam packed with energy. The show also included off the wall dance moves from Warfield jumping up and down to putting his hand on his hip and jolt back and forth in the style of a gothic hula dancer got the audience dancing along with the band. This is what pumped the large crowd made up of about 200 people. The age range of the concert was to my surprise mostly people of the college age and adults. Ranging from people in there 20’s to 30’s and beyond. The fact that it was on a Wednesday in the middle of the week eliminated some of the younger fans to be able to attend the concert. The fans danced throughout the upbeat concert filled with hipsters. Apparently their fan base ranges from middle-aged women in skintight leather pants, to 14year-old teenyboppers. Not what I expected. But, then again, neither was anything that happened the entire night. The show was great the fans were pleased and the music was dark, ending another great performance of the tour for the group She Wants Revenge. By Brett Schorr
Say Anything The lights faded down as the crowd began to cheer in anticipation for the band to take the stage. It was a full house that Monday night in Anaheim. The band took the stage and started off with their first song off their new album “In Defense of The Genre”. Say Anything has an alternative rock sound. The punk rock-inspired group sounded great live. Some would say that this is their best CD and it is even better live. The band had a great mix of slow songs, fast-paced screaming songs, punk rock songs, and sincere love songs that they rocked out to Their CD has taken their music in a whole new direction with a faster paced tempo. As the concert was in progress the crowd was going wild, forming a moshpush pit in the center of the audience. Jeff Turner was on guitar and background vocals while Coby Linder was tearing it up on the drums. The next song was a huge hit for the band “Alive with the Glory of Love” which reached number 28 on the Billboard charts. The fans all sang along with the song and shouted back the lyrics to the stage. The concert reached a mellower point when Bemis came back out onto the stage and played the rhythm guitar to the soft song “I want to Know your Plans” from the “…Is it a Real Boy” CD. They followed that hit up with “People Like You are why People Like Me Exist” which has a great band breakdown in the middle of the song. Their song “Died a Jew” has volumes of controversy. The blues style vocals talk about Jesus Dying a Jew with all of the piercing and then calling him punk rock. You can get many different interpretations out of this song. A little over an hour into their set the band left the stage and the teenage audience began chanting for them to come back onto the stage. The age of the concert attendees

Say Anything ranged from freshman in High School to College students. The packed house full of youth was energetic and knew every word to every song. The punk rock band has catchy lyrics and a dark sense of humor. The songs they sang had a very deep meaning that was not only interesting but also relatable to the crowd. Say Anything has come along way from their debut CD and grown into performers.
The concert stayed fresh with every song they played with their hidden melodies and mid-song tone changes that keep you interested and sounding different from song to song. The lighting was all over the stage and walls and went into the ragging audience. After the last song the lights went black and the concert had ended. Fans slowly trickled out, sweaty but satisfied with the entertaining performance. By Brett Schorr

Oh, it is a long story. Basically, my sister and I grew
up going to my mother's theater quite frequently. We absolutely fell in love with acting, and my sister, who was six at the time, asked my mom if we could act. Now, my mother was an actress, and thought it was a terrible business for kids to participate in; so, she said no. My sister proceeded to ask my mom every day for two years if she could act. After two years, my mother's really good friend started making my mom feel guilty, saying things like, "You support them in everything else they do; why aren't you supporting them now?" So, my mother decided to give in‌.but not completely give in. She researched agents, and found an agent that turned down kids ninety-five percent of the time. An agent that will definitely turn down her two children? Perfect! When my sister, my mother, and I went to go see the agent,

my mother and I waited in the lobby area while my sister auditioned for the agent. When the agent called my mom in, I, being a five-year old, thought it would be super fun to follow my mom in this strange new place. While my mom and I walked in to the room, the agent told her she wanted to take Vanessa (my sister). As my astonished mom processed that information, I decided to be an opportunist. I told her, in the most adorable voice I could muster, "I don't have an agent," and the agent replied, "Oh, honey, I'll be your agent." My mom nearly had a heart attack. Anyways, we have been with the same agents ever since. Did being a California girl help you realize your dreams of being an actress? Being a California girl completely helped with being an actress. Obviously, my poor mother still had to drive my sister and I everywhere (L.A. traffic is not too fun), but the fact that we were always able to go to our home at night was a very comforting thought. Also, I actually had the opportunity to continue going to my school, which would have been a bit difficult if I were from a different state.

Where are some of your favorite places to shop in California. I am a Nordstrom girl at heart, and I am also obsessed with Betsey Johnson and Free People. I just recently got into Anthropology, and I absolutely love that shop! Now that you are the star of a hit TV show what parts of your life have changed? Well, I guess the biggest part of my life is that I am just incredibly busy, which I absolutely love. I also gained this wonderful family through the show; from my amazing cast members and our awesome crew to our wonderful executive producers and the network executives, I feel so lucky to be working with such an incredible group of people. Even though it is a bit of a different experience, I am glad to say that I am still attending a regular high school, which gives me the ability to still gain some "regular" experiences. Tell us about the day you found out you landed the role of Ally. It was actually super funny how I found out that I got the role of Ally. I had tested for the show a few days prior, and I was literally flipping out. The notknowing was honestly killing me. I knew I was going to find out pretty soon, so I was just waiting for that phone call.
All of a sudden, I check my phone and find out that my really good family friend texted me. The text said, "Congrats. This is such a big deal." I was warily hopeful, and then I saw that I received a voicemail from another family friend, who was yelling on the phone saying, "Oh my goodness, this is such a big deal! I am so proud of you!" I had a feeling the reason everyone was excited was because I got the part, but of course I still did not know for sure. At that point, I called my mom and told her what was happening. She told me I got the part, and I finally let myself completely freak out.
Did you already know the other cast members or did you meet them on set? I actually have known Raini (who plays Trish on the show) for years! We did a series on Showtime together called Huff. When we saw each other at the test, we both flipped out! We both really wanted each other to get it, so we could work together again. I met Ross (who plays Austin) at the test, and I met Calum (who plays Dez) on the first day of production. Honestly, we just wrapped our second season, and it feels like we have known each other for way longer than two years. What is your favorite food and where is your favorite restaurant? I am so incredibly picky! It's actually pretty ridiculous. My favorite foods consist of GoGurt, pizza, and good old pasta. Honestly, I eat at home most of the time because my father is such an amazing cook! He makes the best pasta ever! When your not working or doing school work what do you like to do for fun? I like to hang out with friends (Barnes and Nobles is obviously where we hang out), read, and just relax. I am really lucky though, because when I am actually "working," I'm honestly just having fun. Whether it's acting on the show or writing songs, I am blessed to say that I am always enjoying myself.

Tell us something that no one knows about you? Last year I had an epiphany about how good water is for you ( I know, I'm a little late on the update), and ever since then, I have been consuming like five bottles of water a day. I feel so much healthier! Where is your favorite place to traveled? I have traveled to Italy quite a few times, and I am absolutely obsessed with it! Italy is such a beautiful place, the people are so sweet, and the food is AMAZING! My dad is from Italy, so we usually stay with family, which is really nice! Have you ever had a crazy fan moment? Honestly, I enjoy every fan experience! It still bewilders me that I have "fans." They are always the sweetest people, and I am so lucky that they watch the show! What are your must haves in your purse? Oh, goodness gracious, I have so many things in my purse! If I told you everything I had in my purse, we would be here all day. I'll limit it to the basics: a mirror, chapstick, bandaids, hand wipes, my wallet, my flip phone, and my sunglasses.
Do you try to buy any American made products? My whole family and I definitely try to buy American made products. Honestly, when it comes to clothes, I usually only buy it if it is made in America. There is nothing like buying a shirt that's on sale, it actually fits me, AND it's made in America! I get so happy! What do you love most about being an American? I feel so blessed to be living in America, not only because of the amount of opportunity that is presented to its citizens, but also because of the open communication we citizens can have about the government. We might not always agree, but our disagreements and compromises lead us to find solutions other countries might not consider. I love America, and I am so happy that I live here.

Conor Maynard British singer Conor Maynard is making ripples in the music industry with his debut album “Contrast” in the United States early in 2013. Maynard was made famous by uploading cover songs to his Youtube channel and attracting lots of views. He was discovered by R&B singer Ne-Yo and then signed to Capital Records. Conor is compared to the Justin Bieber of the United States while the album has flairs of Justin Timberlake inspiration. The first single from his studio album “Contrast” is "Can't Say No" an electronic club song that will have you moving in your car to the club all day and night. Conor collaborated with Ne-Yo on his current US single and video for "Turn Around" which he performed live on MTV during New Years Eve. He also teamed up with Pharrell Williams and Rita Ora for some tracks on “Contrast”.

Conor Maynard To support the release of his debut CD Maynard did a free show for fans at the Universal City Walk. Maynard sang a mix of new songs from his debut CD while getting a warm welcome from his US fans. In the middle of the set he broke out his popular cover of “E.T.� made popular by Katy Perry. After the show he had a meet and greet where fans got to meet him and hear his sweet British accent in person. As Conor Maynard is starting to make his mark on the Billboard chats in the United States he is a huge name in the United Kingdom. By Brett Schorr

It has a tropical climate with hot humid summers and warm winters. There is a marked wet season during the summer months, with dry winters that feature much lower humidity. Nevertheless, Miami Beach receives significantly less rainfall in a given year than neighboring areas such as Miami proper and Fort Lauderdale and its proximity to the moderating influence of the Atlantic gives it correspondingly lower high temperatures and higher lows. Miami Beach is one of only a handful of U.S. locales that has never recorded snow or snow flurries in its weather history.
