Light Up The Night
4th Annual Lekotek Ambassador Ball | Friday, November 8, 2013
Light Up The Night This event is vital to helping us support children with disabilities and their families. With your help, we will light up the night and create opportunities for children with disabilities to shine. Lekotek, a word meaning “play library, provides therapeutic play sessions for children with disabilities and supports the entire family by welcoming parents, siblings and other family members to participate in play. At Lekotek, we promote learning through play. Play is how children of all abilities build skills, self-confidence and independence. Lekotek provides play sessions and a toy lending library to support the developmental milestones of children with special needs and their families. When a child enters the realm of play, he/she enters the realm of potential and possibilities. When a child’s needs are thus met, they can depart from the world of struggles, tasks and treatment into the joyful experience of play and through that accomplish more than anyone ever dreamed possible.
