PREAMBLE

The National Silhouettes of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. became official in August of 1947 at the Los Angeles Conclave of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. In 1980 the Silhouettes were officially recognized as an auxiliary to the Fraternity. Under the leadership of Dr. Oliver Gumbs, Grand Polemarch, the Silhouettes were granted a seat on the Board of Directors of the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. On September 11, 1987, Policy Statement No. 87-12 was entered into the records of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., recognizing the Silhouettes as an affiliate whose purpose is to provide support and assistance for the activities of the Fraternity at Grand Chapter, Province and Local levels.

(2) A Silhouette whose husband is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The Silhouette may attend the National Silhouettes Meeting by paying Province and National dues. Rationale: Kappa Life members receive all rights and privileges of financial membership at the National level, which includes the ability to attend Grand Chapter Meetings. Wives of these members should also be allowed to attend the National Silhouettes meeting as is attendance at the National Silhouettes Meeting by widows.

Silhouettes serving in these positions have provided invaluable assistance to the Board and National Silhouettes organization and should be included as members of the National Board of Directors.

The National Meeting Planning Committee will assist the National President in executing the responsibilities of planning the National Silhouettes Meeting.

Additional nominations may be received from the floor. Silhouettes nominated from the floor must present a completed nominating packet to the Nominating Committee at the conclusion of the first business meeting.

It shall be the duty of this committee to prepare and monitor the National Silhouettes budget; pay all authorized expenses, file all required legal financial documents of the organization and provide assistance to chapters as needed. A. The National Treasurer, National Financial Secretary and National Registrar shall also function as the Financial Oversight Committee to include the Province Coordinator of the Province where the next National Silhouettes Meeting will be held, the current and last two (2) host chapter chairmen and others as designated by the National President. The National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary shall also serve as chair and co-chair respectively of the Financial Oversight Committee.

Section 2. Fees and Travel Expenses. In accordance with the National Silhouettes budget:

The National Body shall assume registration fees and travel expenses for all National officers attending the National meetings in accordance to the Silhouettes national budget.

The National Body shall assume travel expenses of the National Silhouettes President in the performance of her duties; B. The National Body shall provide gratis registration for past National Presidents attending the National Silhouettes Meeting.

A. The National Body shall assume travel expenses of the National Silhouettes President in the performance of her duties; B. The National Body shall assume registration fees and travel expenses for all National officers attending the National Meeting, and C. The National Body shall provide gratis registration for past National Presidents attending the National Silhouettes Meeting. Rationale: It will be the responsibility of the Finance Committee to include a line item for these expenses in the National Silhouettes budget presented to the body for adoption. Only one (1) in-person National Board Meeting is held every two (2) years. Past National Presidents have provided invaluable service to the organization and should be provided courtesy registration in recognition of their service
