Introduction The National Sporting Library & Museum (NSLM) has served as a steward of sporting history for over 60 years, and we are honored to continue preserving, promoting and sharing the memories of the men and women who live out the passion of equestrian, angling, and field sports. The sporting community continues to entrust us with their books which have been lovingly collected over decades. Duplicates of titles already in the NSLM collection are sold and the proceeds of the sale go toward the preservation and maintenance of the collections. These funds have been critical this year, as we have expanded our archival storage, planned book storage expansion, grown our educational programs, and continued development of digital preservation of objects in the NSLM collections. In November, we will launch our first Book Adoption Program to directly preserve rare donations that come to us in need of repair. Once again, we are thrilled to make available the collectible duplicates in the form of our Annual Auction. Like last year, sporting etchings and lithographs are available for bid through a generous donation to NSLM. It is our hope that these beautiful pieces of art will find homes among our members. A new addition to our Auction this year is the ability to direct purchase lots. This feature has been requested often in prior years, and allows our bidders to purchase a lot outright on a “first come, first served basis. Thank you for your continued support of NSLM and its collections. With your support, we continue to grow and develop new ways to serve the sporting community. Your participation in our Annual Auction helps us maintain resources that have been enjoyed by thousands of researchers and visitors to the Library each year.

CURRENT EXHIBITIONS To the Finish: The Art & Process of Greg Montgomery On view through November 27, 2016 To the Finish: The Art & Process of Greg Montgomery delves into the artist’s creative process. The show of thirtyfive fine art prints and preparatory materials features Montgomery’s early serigraphs (silkscreen prints), drawings, and cut-paper studies as well as giclées printed with the innovative ink-jet printing technology which was embraced by fine art print makers by the mid-1990s for the resulting realistic colors, detail, and faithfulness to the original medium.
Detail of the Color-aid paper study for Rain or Shine, 1988, reveals the detail required to cut and fit varying sizes of color papers together. On the margin, the artist mixed silkscreening inks to match colors. © Greg Montgomery
