NSLM Announces New Series Sporting Conversations: Lectures by John H. Daniels Fellows MIDDLEBURG, VA – The National Sporting Library & Museum (NSLM) will host a new monthly series in 2015. Sporting Conversations: Lectures by John H. Daniels Fellows will allow the public to learn about new discoveries and research by the John H. Daniels Fellows. This series will feature current and former Fellows as they share their expertise, research, and experiences studying the unique collections, resources and rare books found at the National Sporting Library & Museum. The first Sporting Conversations lecture of 2015 will feature Elizabeth Tobey and will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the NSLM campus in Middleburg, VA. Admission is free for NSLM members and $5.00 for non-members. The event is open to the public. Tobey, the first recipient of the John H. Daniels Fellowship in 2007, will discuss her research of Frederico Grisone’s The Rules of Riding (1550) and her recent publication, the first English translation of Grisone’s work. Copies of the publication will be available for purchase (cash or check only) and the author will be available to sign purchased books. As part of the program, materials used by Tobey from the Hunersdorf Collection in the F. Ambrose Clark Rare Book Room will be on view. A discussion by Tobey of the significance and use of these materials in her research will be followed by time for questions and conversation about the research.

Daniels (1921-2006). Past fellowship recipients include postgraduate students, authors, curators, museum professionals, professors, and scholars researching a variety of subjects related to field sports. The National Sporting Library & Museum is dedicated to preserving, promoting and sharing the literature, art and culture of equestrian, angling and field sports. Founded in 1954, NSLM holds thousands of books on sporting topics including hunting, angling, equestrianism and horseracing, among others. The Library collection dates from the 16th-21st centuries. The Museum houses exhibits of American and European animal and sporting fine art. Information is shared through exhibitions, lectures, seminars, publications and special events. The NSLM is open to researchers and the general public. Admission: Adults $10, Seniors (65 and older) $8, Youth (13–18) $8, Youth (12 & under) Free. Library admission is always free to the public. Museum admission is free on Wednesdays and the final Sunday of each month. Museum admission is always free to NSLM Members. Hours: Wednesday - Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m
