stair tread and stairway landing compliance The Building Code of Australia (BCA) and Australian Standards (AS1428.4) now require all new buildings to include slip-resistant stair treads. This is to provide safe access and mobility to all users. According to the Building Code of Australia and Disability Discrimination Act (ODA), it is also mandatory to provide a stair nosing with horizontal depth between 50mm and 75mm on all steps.

If tiled stairs don’t comply with the above standards stated in TABLE 3A., stair treads or a stair nosing needs to be applied. Such profiles include: • aluminium stair nosing • rubber stair nosing • fibreglass stair nosing • metal anti-slip strips • fibreglass anti-slip strips
