When you work hard and you play hard you need extra support during your exercise and fitness regime. The newly reformulated Definity Protein Plus is the perfect addition to your daily diet, if you are looking to tone and shape up. Definity Protein Plus is a delicious high protein shake, containing additional vitamins and minerals, such as iron, magnesium and vitamin C, to help you fight tiredness and fatigue, whilst supporting a healthy immune system. Containing 20g of high quality whey protein to help aid muscle repair, it’s the perfect all in one option to help you meet your daily protein needs and support recovery after exercise. And if that wasn’t appealing enough, the brand new flavours of raspberry ripple and chocolate toffee will definitely tickle your tastebuds! Visit our website www.maxitone.com , Boots and Holland & Barrett to find your reason to say Thank you Protein!

Success Story Stacey Hogg lost weight using Maxitone for her dream wedding. She had six-months to go until her dream wedding in Cancun and had two stone to lose. Before Stacey started her diet plan she used to eat a lot of fast food, loved eating out and spent a lot of time snacking at work. Stacey found the diet hard at first but really got in to taking protein based products and didn’t look back. She noticed the more protein she took the less hungry she felt. The final months before your big day can be really stressful so Sharmain Davis, nutritionist for Maxitone, was keen to motivate Stacey and put together a diet plan that would be healthy as well as give her the energy to finish planning her big day.

Sharmain’s five golden rules for pre-wedding weight loss are: • Be realistic – if you set yourself unrealistic goals, such as, “I’m going to lose two stone in a week” or “I’m going to go to the gym every day until my next fitting” You will fail and it will leave you feeling unmotivated. A realistic weight loss goal is 1-2lbs per week • Plan Ahead – Keep a food diary for three day to assess your problem areas. You might find that you skip breakfast and then over-indulge mid-morning as a result. Once these issues have been identified you are in a better place to change them e.g. get up earlier and have breakfast and limit puddings and alcohol to one day a week • Don’t skip meals – missing a meal here or there won’t help with your weight loss goals. Eating regular meals will provide the energy you need to feel alert, organised and motivated. Spreading your food intake across the day will help you reduce your cravings and keep your metabolism ticking over

Stacey Hogg Before: 12st 5lbs After: 10st 7lbs Height: 5ft 9in 8 www.nationalweddingsmagazine.co.uk

• Find a healthy balance – different food groups play a role in your health and weight loss goals so it’s important to include balanced options. E.g. pasta can be a low-fat meal but it lacks in vitamins, minerals and protein and may be high in total calories. You should always aim to include protein, carbs and vegetables or fruit. You’d be surprised how many women don’t get a healthy balance of protein, which helps muscles repair, replenish and tone quicker when eaten as part of an active lifestyle. • Treat yourself – reward your efforts to keep motivation high. Set short-term goals and regular treats but avoid food as a reward and spoil yourself with a beauty treatment or a new pair of shoes instead.

Wedding news The perfect drink to celebrate that special day with

Champagne Billecart-Salmon is a small family-owned champagne House situated right in the heart of the Champagne region. It is nearly 200 years old, having been founded in 1818. Since its founding the winemakers at the House have endeavoured to create elegant champagnes with distinctive finesse by following the family motto of ‘Give priority to quality and Strive for excellence’. The Brut Réserve nonvintage is a light, fine and harmonious champagne with a floral freshness. The perfect drink to celebrate that special day with.

The ClaireaBella classic jute bag £39.99

‘Think You Know ClaireaBella? Think Again!’

If you think you know the iconic and unique lifestyle brand ClaireaBella, the celebrity favourite brand famous for personalised jute fashion bags seen on the likes of Michelle Keegan, Brooke Vincent and the cast of TOWIE, then think again! A brand that is as unique as you are, founder and designer Claire Barratt offers personalised and crafted ClaireaBella products such as bags, fashion items, stationery and accessories. Founded in 2010, the ClaireaBella story started when mum of five Claire Barratt visited Paris with husband Jon. Falling in love with the caricatures they had drawn on their trip, Claire quickly set about putting it on to a bag when she returned to the UK and thus the ClaireaBella brand was born. www.toxicfox.co.uk/claireabella

The orders soon came flooding in as soon as friends, family and colleagues saw Claire’s artwork. However the ClaireaBella brand really took off after Chloe Sims from TOWIE was ‘papped’ with her very own personalised bag making ClaireaBella a true ‘overnight sensation’. Going from strength to strength, ClaireaBella joined forces with ToxicFox.co.uk in June 2011 to launch a range of exclusive personalised Hoodies and T-Shirts that have been worn by both Geordie Shore and Celebrity Big Brother stars.

With its new, innovative carbon ring collection Furrer-Jacot is once again demonstrating that 155 years after its founding the brand remains the world's leading wedding and fashion ring manufacturer. Unlike jewellery from other vendors each Furrer-Jacot carbon ring is individually crafted and finished in Switzerland. The carbon fibres are wound by hand on each of our rings giving each one its own particularly attractive texture. This innovation is made possible by the fact that, at Furrer-Jacot, each step is carried out as specified by the chief in-house designer. This guarantees Furrer-Jacot’s unique combination of outstanding design with generations of inherited craftsmanship and the most modern techniques. The new collection features the highest Swiss quality carbon fiber roving, (thousands of individual carbon fibers drawn together into a "thread“) which is wound by hand onto our rings. The resulting surface texture gives each piece its individual and particularly attractive touch and feel. For more information please contact Furrer Jacot on +41 52 633 07 33 www.furrer-jacot.com

Ask the experts... Expert: Kevin Bagnall From: Music Wedding Videos www.musicweddingvideos.com

Expert: Sarah Huckerby From: Marriott Forest of Arden www.marriottforestofarden.co.uk

Q

I am planning my own wedding and finding it quite stressful, do you have someone on site who could help assist me with the wedding planning?

Question answered by Sarah Huckerby at Marriott Forest of Arden.

A

Every wedding day should be special and a day to remember. It should also be a celebration you enjoy, from start to finish. It’s all about the planning, if you can agree your time line from the start everything should slot into place. Once you have chosen the date, booked the venue and church (if applicable) the rest is easy, and fun too! Allow some time for you and your partner, go to the gym together or a simple walk. You have all your friends and family around to help be creative and think of ideas, most importantly your Mums (there are two now), Maid of Honours and Best Men, not forgetting your Fiancé, keep them involved and use them to your advantage with cutting, sticking and traipsing around the shops to find what is right for your special day. Plan to finalise your menu, drinks packages and numbers a month before so you can leave the last few weeks to concentrate on the final touches for your wedding party and your outfit and hair and make-up, you will look perfect and be relaxed too!

Q

How do you know who is a real Wedding Photographer and who is not?

Question answered by Jon Dow at Keylight Photography.

A

These days there are many new photographers who have started due

28 www.nationalweddingsmagazine.co.uk

Expert: Jon Dow From: Keylight Photography www.keylightphotography.co.uk

to job losses and in obtaining a good digital camera, they consider themselves professional. The best way to find a real one is to start at the MPA database. I am a fully-qualified Master Photographer of Weddings and with 18 year’s experience and around 900 Weddings photographed, it is easy for me to demonstrate my credentials. Find a photographer that can show at least 100 real weddings and a minimum of five year’s experience and you should be OK. The more transparent and flexible the photographer, the better. I run Keylight like an open book and thousands of customers visit my Facebook page where everything I do is visible. Demonstrating un-edited images is also important, with many only showing heavily recovered Photoshopped photos.

Q

I am looking for some suits for myself and my groomsmen, we are looking for something unusual, bespoke but distinguished, what can you suggest? Question answered by Stephen Bishop at Stephen

Bishop Suiting.

A

The term “unusual” is very broad. Is it a bright pink suit with polka dots or something classy with a twist? If the latter how about my Tailcoat designed with a Shawl (Tux) collar. This look is definitely Formal but with a twist. If it is a lounge suit that you are after then what about a tonic, almost Mod like suit with satin lapels and funky lining. A cross between old and new, Formal suit and tux, this style would be classed as different. Beware though, unusual might suit you but it may not suit all of your groomsmen.

Expert: Steven Bishop From: Stephen Bishop Suiting www.stephenbishopsuiting.com

Q

Do you recommend couples to have a video of their big day?

Question answered by Kevin Bagnall at Music Wedding Videos.

A

Many people are still under the misconception that wedding videos are on for far too long and are filmed by your uncle on a shaky camcorder. This is definitely not the case these days with the superb technology and creative people within the wedding industry. Your wedding day can now be filmed more or less whichever way and style you want, containing whichever content. For example, we turn the whole day in to a music video with a duration of 5-6 mins that you can pop on facebook and Youtube. If that is too short for you, you could get it filmed in super 8mm, recreating a vintage look compliments your wedding style. If your main concern is having a videographer there all day and getting in the way, then why not hire the cameras and shoot it yourself? There are companies out there that will edit it for you. This is particularly good for getting the real person in front of the camera if it is a friend or family member behind it. There are many ways you can relive your special day but heed warning! There are still companies out there that do not fulfill their promises. Always make sure that you get to look at their portfolio beforehand. I also always advise to meet up with them at the earliest convenience too, we will be spending the day with you so you need to feel comfortable and at ease. Happy hunting guys and please let me know of other novel ways of getting your day etched in to history

Wedding Peggah & Erik

This was my first wedding at Strawberry Hill House, I was not disappointed; in fact it is an amazing and unusual building. The creation of Horace Walpole during the 18th century, Strawberry Hill is internationally known as Britain’s finest example of Georgian Gothic revival architecture

The bride Peggah and groom Erik were most stunning and were an absolute pleasure to photograph.

An early start with the bride in Hampstead Heath, then 45 mins drive to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham.

After the ceremony guests were served canapĂŠs on the sun scorched lawns for an hour or so. Then off to Rough Luxe with the bride and groom for a few shots there while they unusually had a few hours to chill out before the evening reception at 116 Pall Mall perhaps better known as the building of the Institute of Directors

25 Years of I Do’s

ilver Wedding Anniversary for Leighton’s weddings! Leighton Hall is raising a glass and celebrating its own wedding anniversary next month. It will be exactly 25 years since the first Bride and Groom came to Leighton Hall to celebrate their wedding after bring married in the local church. Seven years later in April of 1995, the law changed, and couples could be married at “Approved Premises” other than churches or registry offices. Leighton Hall soon got its marriage licence, and ever since has used its stunning music room, complete with Steinway piano, to hold romantic ceremonies for up to 60 guests. The first lucky couple to be actually married at Leighton Hall were Kevin Seddon from Morecambe and his fiancée, Pilar, from Madrid, who entertained their guests with speeches given in both languages before hosting a Ceilidh in the magnificent entrance hall. Leighton is the kind of romantic location brides dream of. With total exclusivity, towers, turrets and 80 acres of beautiful grounds, there’s a red carpet welcome for all the guests and even a helipad should brides wish to arrive in film star style! The co-ordination of weddings is the special responsibility of Leighton's owner, Suzie Reynolds, and over the past 25 years she has seen hundreds of couples celebrate their special day at this incredible venue. She also has seen weddings, fashions and wishes change over the years. 94 www.northern-bride.com

She explained “When we first started organising weddings and ceremonies, most brides asked for the same sort of day; the format was quite similar and fairly formal. Nowadays, although there is a structure to each special day, our brides can literally have whatever their hearts desire. We’ve had couples who’ve opted to give their guests afternoon tea on vintage china, rather than a formal meal, wedding cakes that have appeared in all shapes, sizes and colours as well as peculiar modes of transport! One couple even left on a tandem, but the steepness of the drive defeated them!” She continued “Themed weddings are also popular, my favourite was one with a Camelot meets Midsummer Night’s Dream feel. The garden was decorated with giant fantasy butterflies and the guests wore mediaeval costumes. The sun shone and it was a stunning day.

I feel honoured to have been a part of so many couples special day. It’s so much more than just a job to me. I love meeting potential brides, welcoming them into my home and helping make their wonderful dreams and ideas become reality.” Leighton Hall has a brand new website with a whole section dedicated to dream weddings.

Wedding Tammy & Tom

4th April, 2012

My little girl Tienna and I moved into Tom’s flat and then just before Christmas 2008 we moved into a house of our own. Tom lost his job shortly after so money was tight and times were hard. Despite this, we were very happy and over the moon when our second little girl, Ziani was born in June 2010. Tom managed to get a job with a maintenance team, doing very well and securing several qualifications, even being promoted to supervisor. During this time I completed a nail technician course in Manchester. It was a turnaround in fortunes and things were on the up. Life was good. Tom saved hard and on Valentine’s Day 2011, I came home to find a teddy bear holding a red envelope. This contained a love letter and a ring. Tom had also booked a holiday for the four of us in May 2011 to Lanzarote. It was during this holiday that Tom first became ill. The pain he had been experiencing in his

neck and jaw became quite severe. Tom just took pain killers and got on with it. On returning home, back at work Tom was struggling with weakness in his limbs, dizziness and nose bleeds. His boss was quite concerned and together they looked up the symptoms on the internet. What they found was really worrying. Tom had previously been to see his doctor, who had told him it was just an infection and prescribed antibiotics. Tom’s boss was not happy with this and decided to take Tom to the hospital himself. In August 2011 Tom had blood tests and a biopsy. The news at work was bad. There was no funding left to employ Tom, and although his boss had been hopeful for a permanent position he was made redundant. The news from the hospital was far worse. We were told to prepare for bad news, and on the 15th September, 2011 Tom was diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. The cancer had

spread to his neck, collar bone, lymph nodes and lungs. The consultant said that it was very rare. He had never seen it in this country before and certainly never in someone so young. Tom was 24 years old. In the midst of the pain and intense medication we refused to give in and we just got on with it. We went on that same year to pass our driving tests, both in the same week, and both with 6 minors each! We felt it was an omen. In November, 2011 Tom started an intense course of chemotherapy. He contracted a severe infection (PVL), and spent Christmas in hospital. The children spent Christmas with grandma and grandad, while I stayed by Tom’s side. It was touch and go for a while, and doctors were amazed at Tom’s recovery. He came home for New Year. There was nothing else that could be done for him.
