MASJID 3005 Studio 5 | Spring 2016 MASJID 3005 is an Islamic community center for Millennial American Muslims. This space is designed to provide an atmosphere that promotes connectivity and deconstructs traditional barriers within the worship practice and activities in a mosque. A series of planar elements will create open spaces through which users can move and observe freely; these planes will have varying degrees of transparency (e.g. perforations, treated glass, etc) in order to promote a more inclusive experience with as few barriers as possible. A rotated grid adhering to the Qibla direction (direction of prayer) will organize these planes horizontally, creating spaces for prayer, ablution (ritual cleansing), and smaller areas for reflection

30 CUBES Studio 1 | Spring 2014 The objective of this project was to push our creativity with extremely narrow design constraints. The assignment was to build 30, 2” x 2” x 2” cubes with only three materials. Each model had to be different. This was an excercise in multiple iterations, pushing boundaries, and learning to make models.
SICKLE CELL CLINIC Studio 4| Fall 2015 Sickle Cell Anemia is a genetic blood disorder that affects millions of people world wide. In some parts of the world the disease is still not understood and is often mistreated. With this project I’ve designed an out-patient sickle cell clinic for the population affected in Nepal. The materials and finishes were inspired by Tharu ethnic group in Nepal that is known to carry the genetic disorder. The concept for this project was the contrast in shape and function of function between healthy red blood cells and sickled cells. Red blood cells are ‘normal’ and have an elasticity to them, whereas sickled cells are ‘abnormal’ and rigid. The clinical spaces one would consider ‘normal’ are rectilinear and rigid, while the ‘abnormal’ spaces are more angular, and flexible. 40,848 SqFt

BARCELONA PAVILIION STUDY Sketching Architecture | Spring 2014 For the majority of the Spring semester, each student was assigned a famous structure and did various hand drafting exercises of the building. This is the analysis and axonmetric of the Barcelona Pavilion by Mies van der Rohe. This analysis of the Barcelona Pavilion was an exercise in understanding form, spatial organization, and proportions.

MOBILE DOMICILE Studio 2 | Fall 2014 Typically, personal items are kept extremely private. The mobile camper is an inversion of public vs. private inspired by my extremely extroverted client. Through the juxtaposition of transparency and opacity, the space exposes the user’s personal belongings. The faces of the storage units are made of an opaque material creating a minimal and uncluttered view for the user from the inside. In contrast, the exterior is made of a transparent material to allow views into the contents of the storage units from the outside. 48.75 SqFt
ACADEMIC ARTISTIC WORK Sculpture| Fall 2013
These are works I created in an introductory sculpture class. From top to Bottom:
Feel The Love
‘Feel The Love’: Dopamine Molecular structure, made of wood and embroidery thread. This piece was placed in front of a commuter bus stop. I chose this site because I often walked passed patrons on my way from classes and they often seemed upset, tired, and in negative moods. ‘Genesis of an Idea’ : Made of cardboard and chicken wire. This piece is representative of how I imagine an idea or a concept would develop; smaller pieces joined together to create a bigger ‘idea’.
Genesis of an Idea
‘Armé’ : Made of plywood, embroidery thread and a tank top. The prompt was to make a wearable piece. Inspired by armor, the concept behind this piece was to ‘protect and guard one’s heart from others’, physically and emotionally.
