Message from General V.K. Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ADC Chief of the Army Staff and Colonel of the Rajput Regiment
MESSA GE AG Lieutenant General W.A.G. Pinto, PVSM (Retired), who is former Colonel of The Rajput Regiment and General Officer Commanding in Chief, Central Command, has written his autobiography. The General’s memoirs have long been overdue. He has been one of our Army’s foremost battlefield commanders. While commanding 54 Infantry Division during the 1971 war against Pakistan, his Division along with 16(I) Armoured Brigade decisively defeated the Pakistani assault in the Battle of Basantar, a battle which has now passed into folklore in our glorious history. There is much to learn from his experiences both in war and peace. As Colonel of the Rajputs and the Chief of the Army Staff, it is with pleasure that I send this message on the occasion of the release of the General’s memoirs, BASH ON REGARDLESS. I have no doubt that the book will be of benefit to all those who read it, soldiers, students of military history and others.
