DISCOVER THE REAL ALASKA
Dear Nature Traveler,
When you are in search of wildness on a scale unmatched anywhere in the Lower 48, look north to Alaska—there's a reason it's called the Last Frontier.
In Alaska, wildlife vastly outnumbers humans, and wilderness dwarfs development. From coastal rainforest to Arctic tundra and frigid seas, Alaska sustains thriving populations of moose, caribou, Dall sheep, wolves, whales, sea lions, sea otters, bald eagles and, of course, bears.
Our adventures feature bears prominently, and you'll meet them in their native habitat as we get you farther into the Alaskan wild than any other travel company. Guided by Nat Hab's expert naturalist Expedition Leaders, every journey is an enriching experience. With accommodations at remote ecolodges and exclusive access to intimate wildlife encounters, you'll discover an Alaska that few visitors are privileged to see.
Stay at Nat Hab’s own Alaska Bear Camp on a private inholding in Lake Clark National Park, where brown bears roam freely just steps away. Aboard our privately chartered Alaska Grizzly Ship, the Natural Habitat Ursus—sail Katmai’s untouched coastline, watching bears forage on pristine beaches. On our Ultimate Alaska Wildlife Safari, access the Denali backcountry via helicopter and stay on a private island in Kenai Fjords.
The opportunities for exploration are as vast as the state itself. Join us to explore the authentic Alaska!
I hope to see you out there,
Ben Bressler Explorer, Founder, Conservationist • Natural Habitat Adventures

NAT HAB GETS YOU FARTHER AFIELD
Alaska is huge—more than twice the size of Texas—but only 20% of it is accessible by road. While most tour companies focus on easily reachable spots, we embrace Alaska’s vastness, using small planes, helicopters, chartered boats and trains to explore its remote beauty. The Natural Habitat Ursus, a former crab fishing boat made famous on Deadliest Catch and now serving as an intimate expedition ship for just eight guests, explores the roadless coastal edge of Katmai, where we observe brown bears in their natural habitat. In Denali, a chartered helicopter flies you into the backcountry for unparalleled solitude. A chartered yacht takes us to a secluded lodge on a private island in Kenai Fjords from which we explore the marine wilderness. We also use bush planes to reach wildlife havens, while the historic Alaska Railroad carries us across the Kenai Mountains to the coast. After all, escaping the crowds is vital for experiencing authentic Alaska.
LEARN MORE FROM OUR EXPEDITION LEADERS
To fully appreciate the magnitude of Alaska, with its diverse habitats and charismatic wildlife, expert guidance is essential. Our Expedition Leaders are professional naturalists—experts on Alaska’s natural history, geology, ecology and wildlife. Many hold advanced degrees, and all receive additional training and resources from WWF scientists. With their insight, you’ll learn about the intricate relationships between flora and fauna, going beyond merely enjoying the scenery to understanding the rich interconnections of the natural world. Nat Hab guides are equally distinguished by their personal approach. Our Expedition Leaders are with our private groups throughout the itinerary, for a seamless narrative that weaves together your entire adventure—no moving between ship lecturers or lodge-based guides. They invest time getting to know you personally, fostering meaningful connections that transform your vacation into a profound experience that deepens your appreciation for wilderness and conservation.
SMALL GROUPS
FOSTER BIG ADVENTURES
Not only does a small group ensure a lighter impact on the environment, it’s the only way to achieve quiet, close-up wildlife encounters that larger tours simply cannot provide. With no more than 14 guests per trip (fewer on some), we can break up into even smaller groups for the utmost in flexibility and a non-intrusive presence. Small groups grant access to secluded locations and accommodations that are off-limits to larger parties, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a private gathering than a typical tour. Your guides get to know you personally, catering to your specific interests and needs. The intimate setting fosters camaraderie among travelers too, leading to close connections that often endure long after the trip concludes. Experience the big difference a small group makes!
STAY WHERE THE WILD THINGS SLEEP
Our secluded wilderness lodges—several of which are private to Nat Hab alone—place you just steps from grizzlies, salmon, foxes, moose and more. While remote, these accommodations provide exceptional comfort with plush beds, hot showers, gourmet meals and unimpeded views. For 2025, we've added brand-new Odyssey Lodge on Kachemak Bay, a short boat ride from Homer and surrounded entirely by nature. Denali Backcountry Lodge, currently accessible only by helicopter, lies deep within the pristine wilderness of Denali National Park. Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is a serene retreat on private Fox Island on the edge of Kenai Fjords National Park; King Salmon Lodge overlooks the Naknek River and borders Katmai National Park, an optimal base for bear viewing on the Brooks River; and Nat Hab’s Alaska Bear Camp offers seclusion on a private shorefront inholding in Lake Clark National Park. When you travel with us, you'll stay where wildlife prevails, not other travelers.
WILDLIFE SAFARI ULTIMATE ALASKA
See Far More of the Last Frontier on Our Small-Group Wildland Immersion
While superlatives strive to convey the grandeur of Alaska, they never quite manage to capture the reality. But you’ll find it on this peerless wilderness adventure! Experience the remote backcountry of Denali National Park where grizzlies, wolves and caribou roam the tundra beneath the Alaska Range. Ride the historic Alaska Railroad to Seward. Look for whales, otters and puffins in Kenai Fjords, cruise to the face of a tidewater glacier, and overnight on private Fox Island. Then, cap off your northern safari with the world’s best bear viewing! Following the seasonal patterns of the bears, our itinerary includes either our private Bear Camp in Lake Clark National Park or a visit to Katmai National Park when the salmon are running up the Brooks River. Discover the real Alaska: bigger, wilder and more enthralling than you ever imagined!

ALASKA BEAR CAMP
A Total Immersion with Brown Bears from Our Private Fly-In Wilderness Base
A genuine encounter with the Alaskan wilderness often starts with a bush plane. And this adventure begins with a private flight across Cook Inlet, passing active volcanoes and glaciers before landing on a pristine beach. The stretch of sand is empty, except for the brown bears that live here—we often see them ambling along the shore before we even land. Our sustainable bush camp provides a base for exploration in the bears’ midst, fronting the bay on the site of an old homestead in a largely untouched setting. It’s a peerless location: Bear Camp occupies an enclave of private land surrounded by Lake Clark National Park, one of the world’s most renowned bear-viewing destinations. Against the backdrop of the ice-clad Aleutian Range, Nat Hab’s Alaska Bear Camp offers rustic luxury and total solitude—with enough bear thrills for a lifetime and then some!

Protecting the Bear Coast Against Destructive Mines
Alaska’s Bristol Bay watershed, home to the world’s largest sockeye salmon run and thousands of brown bears, also contains large deposits of gold, copper and molybdenum. Proposals to build invasive mines to extract these metals, including the open-pit Pebble Mine, threaten to decimate this pristine environment. Contaminated runoff and industrial infrastructure would pollute pure waters and fragment intact wilderness habitat. After sustained efforts on the part of Alaska Native groups, communities, tourism and fishing interests to halt Pebble Mine, a victory was achieved in 2023 when the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency blocked the project. However, vigilance is needed against future proposals. Collaborative efforts aim to protect the region’s $2 billion fishery, which supports 15,000 jobs, is crucial for Indigenous communities, and sustains prolific wildlife. Nat Hab and WWF are committed to safeguarding this irreplaceable ecosystem while promoting sustainable economic alternatives.
