PLAYGROUND REPLACEMENTS

NEW PLAYGROUNDS TO OPEN IN MULTIPLE PARKS.

This replacement project includes new playgrounds located at Don Misenhimer, Clarence Thompson, College Hills, Bowman Springs, Gene Schrickel, Jr., Howard Moore, Dixon W. Holman and Mary and Jimmie Hooper parks. These playgrounds were identified for replacement based on the date they were originally installed.

With the support of the Mayor and City Council, funding in the amount of $1.75 million was budgeted for this fiscal year. The playground equipment was purchased from six vendors to ensure each playground has its own unique style and features. The City Council approved the purchase at its Sept. 6, 2022 meeting.

New playground includes new poured in place rubber safety surfacing, a 2-5 year-old and 5-12 year-old play units as well as musical play pieces and new paved entry.

New playground will include play equipment for age group 5-12 years, new poured-in-place safety surfacing, swings for both age groups and outdoor musical instruments. Additional improvements will provide for a larger play area with improved accessibility.
