6 Herbal Teas to Support Fertility
Many women in the U.S. and the world experience fertility issues and often resort to invasive techniques and using drugs to stimulate ovulation. Before going that route, it’s a good idea to prepare the body for pregnancy by addressing diet, reducing stress, and using herbal medicine to create the ultimate environment for that baby to live. Here is a list of teas and supplements you can take on your own to help prepare your body for pregnancy.

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea: One of the best herbs for enhancing fertility is red raspberry leaf tea as it is known as a uterine tonic. Drinking this tea regularly can help regulate your menstrual cycle as well as strengthen the uterine walls.
Red Clover Tea: Studies have found that red clover blossom creates an estrogen surge, which can assist in follicle and egg production and preparing the body for ovulation. I used to walk in fields and pick off the tops of red clover blossoms!
Stinging Nettles Tea: Stinging nettles is another safe herbal tea that acts as a uterine tonic. It is full of calcium and magnesium, which add to its properties of calming and stress reduction. Many women get stressed while trying to get pregnant, which can cause infertility. Nettles helps the liver to remove toxins that can also hinder fertility.
Evening Primrose Oil: Evening primrose oil is from the seeds of the evening primrose plant and is a great herbal supplement for women in childbearing years. One of its notable effects is helping to balance hormones. It relieves many PMS symptoms such as irritability, breast tenderness, and headaches. Besides taking this regularly, when you are ready to get pregnant, EPO is beneficial in increasing cervical mucus, which is needed for sperm to travel to the egg successfully.
Cinnamon: Common cinnamon bark is used in Chinese medicine to control heavy bleeding and to warm the uterus and eliminatecold, which is a condition that can prevent pregnancy, according to this ancient system of medicine. It has been shown to reduce insulin resistance, which may be a cause in PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome).
Milk Thistle: Milk thistle is a great herb for detoxing, protecting, and renewing the liver. Toxins in the body and liver can prevent fertility, so it is of utmost importance to keep the body in a healthy state. I suggest a healthy, food-based cleanse, eliminating coffee, alcohol, sugar, and processed foods, as well as dairy and refined carbohydrates. This will help the liver to detox toxins that can build up in the body, which can prevent, or at least make difficult, the goal of fertility.
