Perspective Collage:
The perspective collage was done using adobe photoshop and photos taken by my own personal phone at the art museum of philadelphia. the goal was to create a new perspective of a space using the photos that were taken. with a mixture of by hand techniques and the use of photoshop created the perspective on the next page. The concept was stairway to heaven and i used the steps and created a hourglass to represent time and used the greek architecture of the mueseum and the engraved figures to represent heaven.

Monograph:
the monograph projects goal was to pick a topic that i was interested in researching, and then using the photos and information gathered to create a monograph using adobe indesign. every aspect of the book was designed by me, including the binding. the purpose was to create layouts using aspects of design to convey the content effectively.

Diagram: the digram project was also invoving the art museum of philadelphia, but this time the goal was to make site diagrams using research gathered by me and my classmates about the site. my main concept was pertaining to the different views/ experiences of each side of the art museum, which was mainly affected by the type of region, and dividing zones. the zones seperate the regions and are bothe natural and unnatural. there are a total of 2 and they are the river and pennsylvainia ave which are represented by the white zones outlined in blue.

Semester Summary:
Nicholas Vincent Professor Andrew Hart
Over the course of this semester i have grown as an architecture student. I have further developed my own sence of design. i am now well familiar with many design programs that can help supplement my design projects such as photoshop, indesign, autocad, and illustrator. what i feel most proud of is my drafting. over the course of this semester i did alot od drafting, focusing on construction lines and line weights. i feel that this has made my drawings way better than they previously were. the part of the semester where i truly felt the chlick with architecture was the third project, the visitors center. for this project i got to design a visitor center for a case study house that i studied. this was the first time i got to genuinely create architecture. all the other studios were designing the volume first, while my studio figured out our target user, program, and concept; which then drove the design for the visitor center. for my design i made the entire design revolve around my user group and concept, which i felt made successful architecture of a visitor center.

Case Study
with luis burgos:
the case study project was a research project where me and a partner were asigned a famous house and had to use the drawings from the architect and create our own drawings awell as a model. my partner and i had the walker guest house designed in 1952 by paul rudolph in sanibel island florida. the model was built at 1/4 scale using basswood and on a birch base.
10
Nicholas Vincent Professor Andrew Hart Key features of the model/ house were 8 flaps that used a counterweight that allowed the flap to open and close. the original house uses cannonbals, while the model uses a cap nut. the house is only 40’x 40’ including the exterior supports.

Mondo Materials:
The mondo project was based on observations from studing the case study and creating the model. i focused on the idea of seein nature through the house. the mondo model consisted of 6 sliding panels each with 3 different effects that alter the view beneath. the effects included colors, opacities and textures. this was intened to reflect how guests of the house can chose how they look at their surroundings when visiting the house. 12

Visitor Center:
the visitor center is the final project using the case study house. for this project i was tasked with designing a visitors center for the case study house. for my visitor center i was tailoring it to a specific user gruo that was families and tourists stopping to get icecream as they go abut their day exploring the island. the design was intended to allow guests to choose their own adventure when chosing where to sit after getting their ice cream. the different views one can experience is the case study house (walker guest house), the beach, the walker main house and the nature that surrounds the property. 14
Nicholas Vincent Professor Andrew Hart when visiting the center guests will typically be on bikes, which is a common way of transportation on the island. as they approaching the property from the road they first are exposed to the case study house which is closest to the road and can choose to take teir bikes up a path that runs next to the case study house or the main house to get to the visitor center. once in front of the center theri is bike parking and there is a large window in that allows guests to see straight through the shop to the back which has the counter. behind the counter is another large window that allows for guests to see straight to the beach which is on the opposite side of the center without even walking throungh the doors. this concept is a reference to the concept of seeing nature through the house that i discoved when studing the house and used as the basis for my mondo materials project.
