TRAVEL TIPS FOR A SAFE START TO SPRING 1. IS YOUR MOTORCYCLE READY? Brakes – Check fluid level and operation.

Fluids – Check for stale fuel, brake fluid and coolant. Conduct oil change, as necessary. Cables and Controls – Check clutch, throttle cables and levels and grips.

Tires – Check tire pressure and look for flat spots. Battery – Check charge level, connections and look for corrosion.

Safety – Check turn signals, brake and headlights.

2. IS YOUR CAR READY? Schedule an oil and oil filter change. Have your car battery tested and replaced, if necessary. Check tire pressure and tread. Replace your wiper blades and refill wiper fluid. Deep clean your lights and replace the bulbs, if necessary.

3. ARE YOU READY FOR YOUR MOTORCYCLE? Rider skills tend to atrophy during winter months when it’s too cold to ride. Gear up: Make sure you have all the necessary personal protective equipment before you start riding again. Even though the weather might be warming up, you dress for the slide, not the ride.

4. SPRING ROAD HAZARDS Sand or gravel build up on the roads put down during inclement weather, piles up in exactly the worst places it could, like corners. This can be especially dangerous for motorcycle riders. Potholes that form during the winter. Increased wildlife activity.
