100 YEAR OF TRADITION IN A MODERN MARKET A bit of history… Since 1917 Wire Weaving Co. Dinxperlo has been a national and international manufacturer of wire mesh and cloth in various types and sizes. In their production facilities of approximately 13,000 m² they manufacture semi-finished products such as woven and welded wire mesh. Also after-treatments – powder coating, galvanizing, rolling, annealing and cleaning are provided as additional services in their factory. Wireweaving Dinxperlo is a family business with short communication lines. The third generation is in charge of the company and wire weaving is in their DNA. Traditionally an excellent customer relation is promoted, where the quality of the product is never lost out of site. “Customer Value” and “Operational Excellence” is embedded in the culture of the company.

Trends in a modern market In a modern market we can see a trend where customers are demanding an increasing quality against lower prices and shorter lead-times. Additionally, the competition from Asia especially at market price is rapidly increasing. Wireweaving Dinxperlo finds that the traditional cores values of the company like “Customer Value” and “Quality of the Product” are becoming under increasing pressure from these trends.

Transition to “Lean” with preservation of culture… A 5-year action plan is created to encounter the challenges in the market. Wireweaving Dinxperlo has embraced the concept of Easystep2Lean to enable them to let the market work for them. The following primary goals where defined: 

Move to a new modern production facility to increase the quality of production processes.

Replacement of the existing sales and production propriety software systems by an integrated ERP system, in order to better understand and control the various business processes.

Make informed choices in the product / market combinations and the associated process improvements and certifications.

Put the staff and the employees at the center of the change management process.

Optimization in the production and logistics processes for greater flexibility while maintaining quality.

The results until now… After moving to the new premises all production and administrative processes are located in a single location. The efficiency of the production process is increased due to the shorter communication lines. The first phase of the implementation of the ERP system Microsoft Dynamics NAV in April 2015 provides already more insight into the various product / market combinations and diversity in the demand of various customers. The second phase, in which the production processes are integrated, is started and will be completed December 2015. By making use of barcode scanning, graphical planning, shop floor control mesh registration, the process owners are getting immediate insight into the status and progress of the various work orders at the shop floor.
