VALMEZ URBAN COMPETITON The aim of the competition is to find a proposal for an urban - architectural, landscape and transport solution localities of the area of the former Křižanova sawmill and the area around the train station. The competition goal is to obtain a harmonious ratio between the development areas, public spaces and traffic areas, and technical infrastructure. In the given area it is necessary to place at least: transport terminal, city office, the alley of Emilie and Jan Křižanová and solve parking. At the same time, the space should become a new dignified and representative “gateway” to the city for visitors arriving by train or bus. (Graphic

GREENWAY SMICHOV The redevelopment of brownfield sites is an important way toward the sustainable development of cities. This is important as many of those sites are situated in the core of urban areas. Therefore, identifying new ways to reuse them and redeveloping their surrounding landscape is a key element for achieving urban redevelopment and environmental sustainability. I chose this topic as a masters thesis project to create a non-motorized greenway in the southern part of Smichov in order to provide better connectivity within different points joining the residential zone on the hill with the recreational area on the riverside, turning the area into more valuable and appealing for investors and stakeholders, healthier for the communities and environment which will cause in the prosperity of the whole area. The proposed design will also suggest different solutions to solve problems that were stated in the analysis of the project site.

This project is divided into three parts, the first part is an introduction about the presence of brownfields in the Czech Republic and the history and the beginnings of efforts toward their rehabilitation. In particular, railway brownfields in the Czech Republic and the challenges toward their redevelopment. In addition to secondary research that is based on the extensive assessment study performed by Wageningen University and Research in 2009, where researchers conducted extensive public surveys, interviews, and investigations into brownfields and rail locations in Prague, those being Masarykovo Nadrazi, Zizkov Railway Station and Bubny-Zatory railway. This project includes gathering of soil samples from the study site for analysis by CULS Environmental Geosciences labs to determine the type of extent of soil contamination at the Meet Factory site and its surroundings. Finally, a third part which includes a design proposal for redeveloping the study area and proposes a solution for establishing connectivity in the area and these unused brownfields

Site Plan
KARLIN V-ALLEY
Karlínská Kasárna (Karlín Barracks) The main building of the Karlin Barracks was built for military purposes between 1844 – 1845 for the Austro - Hungarian Empire. It is a complex with a long military tradition, consisting of the main building of a rectangular form with five floors and a basement. Given its scale and prominence within the dense urban context of Florenc/ Karlín, it is considered to be heavily under-utilized, expensive to maintain, and is being offered for sale by the Czech state. The existing 135 meters by 85-meter open-air courtyard will become the project site. There is an existing twostory, Functionalist building at the South end of the courtyard, which we will assume will be REMOVED, opening up that space for new construction and/or public space. The existing courtyard will be “opened up” to the urban fabric of Karlin, by designating the south end of the courtyard as an extension to Jirsikova street, continuing north to KŘIŽÍKOVA. The existing historic portal facing KŘIŽÍKOVA will be opened for public access. The new, extended street front of Jirsikova should respect both the existing fabric of that street, as well as the existing faces of the Kasarna.
Floor plans
The design proposal is focusing on the connection between old and new and to make people travel through public, semi-public to private spaces. The design proposal depends a lot on sun circulation. Therefore, the dynamic void between the two blocks will be allowing direct sunlight into every flat in both building blocks. As well as providing a different and picturesque view and atmosphere for each studio or flat in the building. The materials used in the building are all sustainable, mainly concrete slabs with glazed facades.

THE LOOP BUBNY
The task of this project is to design the master plan for the future development of Bubny railway station, located north of Prague’s city center. Bubny today is just a brownfield that separates two major neighborhoods, Holesovice and Letna. We were challenged to put the remaining structure of one of the buildings into use again. The main idea was to preserve the old structure and keep the old historical facade of the building. As well as removing the falling apart and hard to maintain the roof to create a new space inside and give it a new function. The purpose of the new redevelopment of the space was to create a multifunctional space in which will serve the community between the two neighborhoods. It is a combination of public, semi-public, and private space. The program is health and fitness-oriented, which is distributed inside the new glazed structure including “fitness center, farmers market, private offices, clinics, restaurant, and a green rooftop community garden. All surrounded by an elevated platform for running, creating a loop between the two parts of the buildings.

BOURJ HAMMOUD TOWER Bourj Hammoud is a town and municipality in Lebanon located north-east of the capital Beirut, in the Metn district and is part of Greater Beirut. The town is heavily populated, one of the most densely populated districts in the Middle East. Bourj Hammoud is a mixed residential, industrial, and commercial area. Bourj Hammoud has a major waterfront (river and sea) at Beirut’s north gateway that underwent, however, an anarchic urban development. The task of this project was to design a skyscraper in the heart of the overdense area, according to the site analysis of the area, my proposal is to suggest a solution to two major problems, air, and sound pollution. Therefore it was necessary to include vertical gardens on each floor, which will play a big role as a sound barrier and air filtration.
