Hello. Making an impact in people's life has always been my dream. I was born in Mexico City twenty-six years ago and being born in a city with a population of 120.8 million made me wonder if my actions would make any difference in the world. Looking at the way that people interact with an object and the relationship that they build around it made me realize that I wanted to become a designer. I did my bachelors degree in Industrial Design in a private college in Mexico called Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. The idea of getting into people´s houses and make their life easier through product design made me very satisfied. By the time that I got out, four years later, I knew that the product I wanted to design was furniture. I worked in different furniture projects in a small company and on my own. The project that made me realize that I had to pursue higher education came later; I had the big oppotunity of designing and developing a nightclub. The project largely exceeded my abilities and required me to do things that I had never done before. Designing from scratch under time pressure, leading workers, following a budget, buying material and solving problems in the spot without losing the concept of the space were few of the challenges that I faced. At the end, the nightclub fulfilled the requirements of the client. I went back a few times to see how the user interacted with the space and I realized how much impact a little decision of the designer has in the final user and how it can completely change their behavior. I started looking for Interior Architecture schools immediately after this experience. It made complete sense to me that if I wanted to design furniture, I had to understand the space where it was going to be put. I have always believed that going to another country makes a person open their eyes to different traditions and culture. It helps you to look at something through a different lense and opens your perspective. I learned this from the several trips that I made and from the freshman year of high school that I did in the United States. I chose the Academy of Art University after a long search of schools all over the world. It seemed to me that in this school I could learn more than academics. I haven’t been disappointed. Writing about the path that I have followed throughout my life is one of the most enriching activities. It made me realize how much I had gone over and how much I still have left to go. Now I know that my actions will make a difference in the world.

Professional Goals. I would like to grow as a person and to mature as a designer. My long term goal is to have my Interior Design and Furniture company with a focus on residential design and ergonomics. In order to achieve this I will do an internship the last semester of graduate school, continue to work in the field and acquire experience for the next five years. A portfolio that shows the projects that I have done for the academy plus the projects that I have done on my own show a wide range of skills that I have obtained in my life. Even though I feel very confident with the projects that I have done, I know that there is always room to be better. I would like to improve my spatial design and conceptualizing skills for residential design. To understand what a person wants is very complicated but if you can extract and identify their main needs from what they are asking and transform them into something tangible, you can consider yourself capable of providing a service and of being a successful designer who satisfies human needs. Having an own company means not only to know design but also to make design profitable. I would like to improve my abilities in business by going to business school and learning from my job how a company of this nature works. Every form, shape and function that conform a piece of design and that help the humanity to be happy and achieve its goals, motivate people like me to keep looking for the best way to offer comfort, aesthetics and funcionality.

IAD 610 MS: Spatial Design. Bakery inspired by the process of lending books in a library. Consists of a five step process. After getting in, the receptionist gives you a card and informs you how to pick your ingredients from the screens showcased in the halls of the first floor. After choosing your ingredients, you go upstairs to pick up your order that has been taken through the card and make your final payment. You can eat in or take out your products. Wooden materials and sober colors were the primary options for these project as well as big size furniture and strong lines that will make the place imponent, such as a library.

Jackson´s Redisence IAD 612 MS: Material Use. The clients are a couple that like to travel often, have no children and they would use this house as a vacation home. Spatial design was already assigned. Ecosystems was the concept chosen because of their travelling nature. Marine, desert and forest ecoystems define the most of our nature and they were divided in the different residence rooms according to the use that they would have. The furniture simple shapes aim to complement the high contrast colors between rooms.
