Sparkle & Spot
Original story by Benjamin Fuechtbauer.
The story I’m telling you today happened a long, long time ago. It is about sparkle. Sparkle was a dinosaur. He was called sparkle, because he was kind of different to all the other dinosaurs. His back was sparkling. He was a beautiful little dinosaur and everybody liked him.
At the age of two he met Spot who became his best friend for the rest of his life. They grew bigger and bigger and explored the whole jungle.
However, there was one place they never explored: the cave of the terrible, terrifying Tanatos. The terrible, terrifying Tanatos was an evil dinosaur whose favourite meal was mashed dinosaur kids. He only left his cave once a day to catch some poor dinosaur kids.
So one day Sparkle and Spot decided: “We have to go there and explore the mighty, dark terrible terrifying Tanatos cave.” So they went there and sat into a bush next to the cave and waited for the terrible, terrifying Tanatos to come out of his cave to hunt. They waited three hours without any success, but then suddenly there waiting got rewarded. The huge, ugly creature left the cave. Spot said: “we’ll go in separately so we can warn each other in case he comes back.” And so Spot went inside the cave and disappeared in the darkness.
He wasn’t back within an hour and Sparkle began to worry if something might have happened to him inside the cave, but then he saw a shadow coming out of the cave. It was Spot he look very excited and happy, but as he was almost out of the cave the terrible, terrifying Tanatos appeared in the entrance of the dark cave.
He couldn’t see Sparkle, because he was hiding in a bush next to the entrance, but Spot he noticed. He made himself as big as possible and said in a deep scary voice: “What are you doing in my cave you little worm? I’m gonna eat you alive you delicious child!” And so he walked towards Spot to eat him. Sparkle was terrified, but he had to do something. He had to save his friend. He thought as fast as possible how he could save Spot. And then he got the idea. Very carefully, he moved out of the bush into the sun. He reflected the sun into the eyes of the terrible terrifying Tanatos.
The huge dinosaur was dazzled and cried:”Aaahh, what did you do to my eye. I can’t see anymore.” He ran away, and because he couldn’t see he ran down a cliff. That was the last time the terrible, terrifying Tanatos was ever seen.
