RaHGeer: the Traveller
The over arching theme of our second collection is of ‘Beauty in the Mundane’ while focusing on Pakistan’s visual culture, which is also Mashaal’s homeland. Her travel from Pakistan to the UK was the primary source of inspiration for the two designers and they used this to denote the concept of partial memories. Organic shapes from the sources were hand drawn making them less ‘perfect’ and collaged with graphic patterns to produce one of a kind prints for scarves. The aim was to investigate visual culture in Pakistan and carefully select and place ordinary objects together in a stimulating manner so they become the delegate of a new, contemporary vision not hindered by media and the likes.
