magney
house
Each student was assigned a case study with a partner to analyse and understand the important designing factors and structure used when designing the building. The Magney house by Glenn Murcutt was envisioned because of its relationship to its surrounding natural environment. Located in close proximity to the coast of Australia and in the midst of nature, the Magney house elicited the users senses to connect with the house.
The weekend retreat is a design located on a site fronting Lake Tahoe in California. Our client wanted both a retreat that stood out from its neighbors as well as a more seclusive weekend get away. This combined objective led to a concept focused on framed views; controling the users and the visitors sight lines through placement of geometry. The interlocking cubic mass of the house differentiates the use of spaces while allowing certain areas to be obscurred. The mimicing canoe shelter on the opposite side of the site anchors the project on the grounds.

stuart island
residence
The Stuart island residence is a small house located off the shores of Seattle. Hidden below the mountaineous landscape, this retreat is given the luxurious ability to be open. The narrow site means that creating the sense of a larger space is instrumental in a successful project. The designs of this house are created by peers in a different studio while the renderings are my creation and composition.
trauma
center
The trauma center is a design|build proposition to the island of Roatan, Honduras. This project was achieved in a collaborative studio between fifth year graduate and third year undegraduate students. This design drew its inspiration from the way it is situated on the hilly inland of the island. Traditional timber and thatch construction embodies the Roatan architecture and this concept is continued through creating masses that are established off of basic vernacular shapes. The trauma center uses dimensional lumber locally harvested, tiles from the neighboring carpentors, and bambo and galvanised aluminum from the mainland. The island is in dire need of building codes and properly functioning buildings and this trauma center is to be used as a basis for future designs.
This concept is a finalist in an inner college design competion which was presented to the mayors and governor of Roatan. The trauma center is essentially two bands that intersect a larger band. The two intersecting bands are home to the medical program while the the larger brown band is home to the community and support spaces. The concept is articulated to provide efficient and sustainable construction.

portal and scupper drainage repair
The portal and scupper drainage repair is a project I detailed while working during the summer at an architectural consulting firm. This process taught me much needed information not instructed to you during your studies in school. I learned about the art of connections and grasped a visual on the layers that occur to create what we know as just typical walls. These details are part of a bigger proposal which I also aided composing.
