Our Academic Retreat provides a wonderful opportunity for law students to learn invaluable information about law school survival, meet NEBLSA peers, and network with attorneys. Topics include Issue Spotting and Outlining, Debt Management for You and Future Clients, 1L course reviews, bar exam strategies, and the power of networking. Speakers include Melinda Hightower, Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Immediate Past NBLSA Chair; Paula Edgar, Associate Director of Career Services, Seton Hall University School of Law; Professor Alex Johnson, Professor of Law, Director, Center for the Study of Race and Law, Virginia Law, and more! The Law School Symposium consists of a series of workshops and panel discussions geared toward aspiring minority law students. It will be held in connection with the Academic Retreat to provide prospective students with the opportunity to interact with current law students. We encourage NEBLSA students to bring your pre-law student members to attend this event! In addition to our academic programming, we will also host two community service initiatives with DKMS Bone Marrow Drive and The International Book Drivemembers are encouraged to bring new and used books for the book drive.
