Seventh Annual SRBLSA Job Fair Student Registration Information

The Southern Region of the National Black Law Students Association (SRBLSA) is excited to invite you to participate in the Seventh Annual Southern Region Job Fair to be held from August 26-27, 2011 at Florida Coastal School of Law in beautiful and historic Jacksonville, Florida. Last year’s event brought dozens of employers and students together to discuss and interview for legal job opportunities throughout the Southern Region and we are hoping to more than triple the level of participation this year.

Jacksonville, Florida

We have gone to great lengths to solicit interested employers from law firms, corporations, governmental agencies, and public interest groups throughout the nine states within the Southern Region. Students that are not selected for interviews are welcome to attend the Networking Reception for an opportunity to mix and mingle with distinguished members of the legal community in an informal setting to gain insight and advice on how to enhance their legal employment pursuits. Eligibility Requirements In order to participate in this year’s job fair, interested students must be (as of July 1, 2011): 

A Dues paid BLSA member for the 2010-2011 law school term.

Page 2 of 5 June 24, 2011 SRBLSA JOB FAIR REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS STEP ONE: Confirm Your BLSA Member Status for the 2010-2011 School Term TODAY Consult with the Executive Board of the BLSA Chapter at your law school to confirm that you are listed as a dues paid member for the 2010-2011 term. NBLSA’s Career Fair Team must verify your status as dues paid or you will be unable to register for the job fair. STEP TWO: Register on the NBLSA Symplicity Web Site by July 8, 2011. Please visit https://law-nblsa-csm.symplicity.com and register for a Symplicity account. If you have registered for a SRBLSA Job Fair in the past, you will still need to re-register in order to participate. Once NBLSA’s Career Fair Team has verified your eligibility, you will receive email confirmation of your official registration. STEP THREE: Complete your Symplicity Job Fair Profile Once you have received your confirmation message from NBSLA’s Career Fair Team, log back into Symplicity to confirm or edit your profile information and begin uploading your resume and other job related documents (cover letters, unofficial transcripts, writing samples, etc.). STEP FOUR: Bid for Employers of Your Choice from July 9-15, 2011. Log into your Symplicity account and complete the bidding process individually for each employer of interest. See detailed instructions attached. Registered employers will be provided the resume and other required documents of each student that completed the bidding process for their organization. Employers will then preselect students with whom they wish to interview for the first half of their interview schedule. STEP FIVE: Review Your Interview Schedule on August 5, 2011. Initial interview schedules are scheduled to be available by August 5, 2011. Each student will receive an email prompting them to view their interview schedule once it becomes available on Symplicity. Students selected for interviews must send an email to Daphne Shaw, Job Fair Coordinator (srblsajobs@live.com) to confirm their participation in the Job Fair by August 10, 2011. Failure to do so may subject you to CANCELLATION. Once confirmation is received, cancellations will be allowed only in extreme circumstances. Should you have any questions, please contact Daphne M. Shaw, SRBLSA Job Fair Coordinator, at srblsajobs@live.com. Good luck and have a safe and enjoyable summer!
