PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

WEE DISCOVERY PRESCHOOL

Preschoolers will explore nature through games, crafts, and activities. Participants will experience different activities each session. Pre-registration required. Sign up for 3 or more sessions via phone or inperson to receive 20% off.

GRADE SCHOOL PROGRAMS

SPRING BREAK NATURE CAMP Spring into fun and discover the great outdoors at Fischer Park Nature Camp! Campers should bring a water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, change of clothes, sack lunch and morning snack each day. Afternoon snacks will be provided. Staff available for check-in at 7:30am and check-out until 6pm. Pre-registration required.

FISCHER PARK GARDEN VOLUNTEER DAY

Help save the monarch butterfly and other pollinators by getting your hands dirty in the Fischer Park Monarch Waystation and Demonstration Garden! Volunteer to plant, water, weed and maintain this natural habitat for native wildlife. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration required.

ARCHERY 101 Hone your archery skills with a TPWD-certified instructor in this beginner-level class. Take aim, let it fly and find out how fun archery can be! Preregistration required. Class size is limited.

BIRDING 101 More than 150 different types of birds have been spotted at Fischer Park, but how do you tell them all apart? Learn what to look for when you see a bird, how to use binoculars and more while you explore around the Fischer Park ponds. Binoculars provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration required.

CAMPING 101 Interested in camping, but don’t know where to start? Join the Fischer Park staff for Camping 101! We’ll practice setting up a tent and building a campfire, and we’ll even make indoor s’mores! Ages 6+ | $8 | Fischer Park Nature Education Center

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM

Teens- experience all the great things about day camp AND have an opportunity to develop job and leadership skills. CITs assist counselors with implementing and planning camp activities. CIT applications will be available April 1 and require at least one letter of recommendation for new CITs. Once accepted into the program, CITs must attend an orientation prior to the start of camp. Spots are limited and are available on a week-by-week basis following the Fischer Park Nature Camp schedule.

FISHING 101 With just a bit of gear and a fishing license, fishing is one of the easiest ways to enjoy the outdoors! Learn the basic techniques of casting and closed spin cast fishing with a TPWD-certified instructor in this beginner-level class. Equipment provided. Texas fishing license required for participants 17+. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration required.

WEDNESDAY BIRD WALK Join us every other Wednesday for birding! We’ll take an easy walk around the ponds or through the Blackland Prairie, and see what birds we can find. New to birding? No problem! We’ll teach you the basics and provide loaner binoculars. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration required. KAYAKING 101 Explore the waters of the Fischer Park ponds from aboard a sit-on-top kayak. Learn the basic techniques of entering a boat, launching from a pier, and paddling in this beginner-level class. Participants may get wet; please dress appropriately. Equipment provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration required.
