NEW ORLEANS CALLS CATTLEMEN, WOMEN TO THE 2019 EVENT

A

distinctive experience awaits cattlemen and women attending the 2019 Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show in New Orleans, La., Jan. 30 – Feb. 1, 2019. Those wishing a unique experience, educational opportunities and a rip-roaring good time will find it during this once-in-alifetime event. Registration for the 2019 convention opened Oct. 1, 2018, and it’s recommended that you reserve your spot early. The 2019 Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show will be among the biggest ever for the cattle industry, with 6 ½ acres of booths and exhibits. In addition, there will be loads of entertainment, as well as the chance to help establish the direction of America’s beef business during meetings on both checkoff and NCBA policy work. The convention in New Orleans will also feature the 26th anniversary of Cattlemen’s College. Cattlemen’s College is famous for stimulating and thought-provoking sessions that can help generate high returns for your operation. At Cattlemen’s College, cattlemen and women can benefit from both education and profit-building advice. The event begins on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 29, with sessions that include Temple Grandin helping conduct a cattle handling presentation in the demonstration arena. It will be followed by a welcome reception and continues with a morning full of educational sessions on Wednesday, Jan. 30. New this year is the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame reception and dinner on Tuesday, Jan. 29. This event will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. that night. Helping kick off the festivities the next day at the Opening General Session will be four-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Terry Bradshaw, who is also a multi-Emmy and award-winning broadcaster and popular actor – and a Louisiana native. He is also a gospel/country singer, New York Times bestselling author and breeder of championship quarter horses… so Bradshaw’s presentation could cover a broad number of topics! He’s a motivational speaker who is in big demand and always entertains. Wednesday evening will feature both a welcome reception in the Trade Show and the crowning of the National Environmental Stewardship Award winner. Also, the NCBA Political Action Committee (PAC) will be holding its popular annual auction that night.

Thursday’s activities begin with more education as the CattleFax Outlook Session provides a look at markets and weather. The day will also feature a full schedule of industry meetings, with cattle industry policy and checkoff programs taking the spotlight. The Cattle Industry Convention is an important part of the policy direction-setting element in the beef cattle industry. Leaders of the beef checkoff and other important programs will also set their focus on 2019 priorities during the convention in New Orleans. The 2019 NCBA Trade Show features more than 300 exhibitors for attendees to visit, as well as practical demonstrations, such as Stockmanship and Stewardship sessions. At the end of Thursday’s work and exploration of the Trade Show, attendees can enjoy the Mardi Gras Masquerade, a fun time for the entire family. Friday, will feature the Best of Beef Breakfast, where recipients of industry awards throughout the year are honored. The event will be followed by General Session II, featuring John Ondrasik, who uses his life as a musician and working in the family business to deliver a message of creativity, entrepreneurship and collaboration. The “Five for Fighting” entertainer, known for his “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” and “100 Years” hits, will provide attendees plenty to think about as they head into the home stretch of the convention. Friday night the Cowboy Concert Series will feature the American country music duo Big & Rich, a highly entertaining twosome whose first studio album in 2004 produced four straight Top 40 country hits. They will be followed by the Louisiana Last Call, the event’s after party that will go until the wee hours of the morning. For cattlemen and women in 2019, the entertainment, fellowship, education and decision-making at the Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show in New Orleans, La. Jan. 30-Feb.1 will not be surpassed. It will be a great way to start the year, so Let’s Geaux!

This area will feature NCBA’s Beef Quality Assurance program Stockmanship & Stewardship. These sessions will teach handling methods that improve gathering, penning, chute work and hauling on horseback. Much emphasis is placed on ways to increase cattle performance by reducing handling stress. Interactive discussions show how cattlemen can shape consumer’s perception of beef. Other topics include how the principles presented have a significant economic — as well as “quality of life” — benefit when applied in a cattle enterprise. Cattle handling experts Curt Pate and Ron Gill will teach each of these informative sessions.

AMERICAN NATIONAL CATTLEWOMEN

American National CattleWomen consists of strong, enthusiastic women, willing to stand up for what they believe in. She is equally at home on a ranch, in a meeting, at a social function or a legislative venue. She is not necessarily a farm or ranch woman, but she is someone who strongly supports the cattle industry and America’s agricultural heritage through education and promotion.
