Nissan Newsletter March 2020 Presidents report Hi and welcome to March 2020 This year is flying along so far. Firstly I would like to thank the Club for the beautiful bouquet of flowers sent when a close family member passed away. Secondly, again thanks to everyone who came to the presentation night in February, it was a great night. As you can tell this is not a full magazine like we have been getting, this is due to Mason needing to resign from the committee. Thank you very much for your awesome input you did and I’m hoping we can get someone to replace you otherwise you will be getting mags like this. Bitumen events have been happening since January but the Rally’s and Autocross’s are just starting, Motorkhana’s are cruising along nice and quietly. Come along to our meeting on Friday 13th March as we have a very interesting guest speaker Ross Runnalls. Meeting will start at 8.15pm (20:15). Regards Lynn klcuttle@gmail.com
Secretary Hi Everyone, well here we are at March already. Be prepared for this year to simply fly by…….. Firstly, I would like to say thank you to Mason for all the time and effort that he has put into the magazine over the last six months or so, and I am sorry that he can’t continue doing it. So, this leaves us with a big question, DOES ANY MEMBER OUT THERE WANT TO STEP UP AND BE THE EDITOR OF THE NISSANLINK. Please let Lynn, Rhiannon or myself know. We would love to hear from someone soon. Next, at our next Club meeting we are having a Special Guest Speaker. Ross Runnalls is going to join us and inform us on all the up coming possibilities that’s could be happening in the area of forests within the State. There are some very important issues that members of not only the Club but the general Public should be made aware of.
And finally, we will also be having our Raffle. Seeing as how it will be Friday the 13th, I might do something a little different for prizes. Come along and find out. Like I have already said, our next meeting is on the 13th March at the Manningham Club starting at 8.15 sharp. Come early and have dinner with us. Vicki curryinc@bigpond.com

Treasurer Another Audit report and all is good in the world. Working Balance as at 25/02/2020 is $24187.01. Looking forward to a much busier for me as I plan my scrutineering duties evolve for the year. I hear everyone enjoyed Christine and Fred Gibson at the presentation night, what a wealth of motor sport knowledge they have. Very sad I missed them. Karen and I enjoyed our trip over to Bangkok. Saw some amazing sights as well as a plethora of Buddha’s, tall ones, short ones, laying down ones and sitting ones. Bought a little one home with us as you do. Onward we travel for another year and enjoy the ride. Gordon
Rally Report Hey there, Well done to the crews who competed in last weekend’s George Woods 40th Anniversary Introductory Rally. There were plenty of smiles on the competitors faces but none more so than our own Russell and Cary Seabrook, Mitch Fleming and Elliot Marson and Tony Fleming and is ring in Nav from HSCCV Darren MacGrath giving it a red hot go! Well done lads. Last Saturday there was a display of historic rally cars at the Rally Retro Festival, held at the Metec Driver Training Centre in Kilsyth. There will surely be something that will evoke nostalgia for us all. March 21st will see the first round of VRC run in Mitta. We have quite a number of members competing and I’ve heard a whisper that even Cary Seabrook will bring his WRX out to play. (Don’t forget the fuel!) We wish all our members the best of luck at the opening round and are looking forward to another exciting year. Ahead of the 2020 VCRS Competitive Year, the Committee have agreed to the following events being included in the 2020 NCCA Club Championship for Drivers and Navigators. Rd. 1 – Ada River Rally (18/4) Rd. 2 – Victoria Cross Rally (2/5) Rd. 3 – Marysville Stages (23/5) *also an intro (Rounds 4-8 will be advised in next months Nissanlink / Newsletter after the committee have finalized a few scoring issues. – Edited by Lynn) Have a great month, hope to see you out in the forests. Leonie

Membership Hi All The year is off and running with a good number of members competing at the George Woods Introductory Trial last month. I was up there playing camera assistant for Mason Peart Media. The club also had a couple of cars on a stand at the Rally Retro Day run by HRA for the rally community. I hope to get the Z out for a run in this year’s VCRS so it is time to get it ready. That’s it from me; hope to see you at the next club meeting. Aiden February - overdue members.

VALE – Alan Mackay passed away peacefully on Tuesday 25th Feb and there is a memorial for him on Saturday 7th March. Details will be available on Facebook or contact me and I can forward them to you. Alan has done a lot for Rallying from Road Closurer at your small club events through to being the Clerk of Course for many ARC events, Guiding and mentoring so many people for many years to get the best out of themselves. Big loss for motorsport in general.
Upcoming NCCA Club Meeting Information
On the 13th March, at the Manningham, we are being joined for the evening by a guest speaker. This person is held in high regards by the Motorsport community and we would like as many of our members to come along and hear what he has to say.
Ross Runnalls is a retired forester after a career devoted to managing timber production from Victorian native forests. In his retirement he has become concerned at the misrepresentation in the media of his profession and career. Rather than take his concerns to the media which thrives on conflict and sensationalising the extremes, he would prefer to chat to groups of people with another perspective on our forests and about the need for balance.
This has become more topical with the recent decision by the Victorian state government to cease timber harvesting in our native forests by 2030. Ross thinks this has repercussions for the future of rallying in this state, and also for the frequency of large fires such as we have experienced this summer. Please come along and learn more about how the forests are being threatened by more than just the bushfires. For more information please email or phone Vicki or check out our Facebook page.
DON’T FORGET, FRIDAY 13TH MARCH. 8.15PM SHARP
