COVID 19 The global pandemic affected Sri Lanka which led to an islandwide curfew and left many in vulnerable situations. The NCEASL and its relief and development arm, the Alliance Development Trust spurred to action to ease the devastating impacts of COVID-19 in the country.

The daily wage and low-income earner, the disabled and the elderly were amongst the worst affected by this crisis. The Youth Evangelical Alliance (YEA) hosted a series of audio and video podcasts & live-streamed worship & prayer sessions which focused on the COVID-19 crisis and the nation.
The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) declared a Global Day of Prayer for the COVID-19 crisis on the 29th of March. Several churches across the country participated and connected with the NCEASL.

Dr. Tissa Weerasingha, Rev. Michael Dissanayake and Rev. Niranjan George encouraged pastors and leaders through short trilingual audio messages.
We produced a publication addressing the responsibility of faith leaders and the Church's role in the context of the pandemic. The document also addresses health and safety guidelines for faith communities. 04 | ISSUE ONE
The Religious Liberty Commission (RLC) published a booklet regarding the laws governing COVID-19 in English, Sinhala and Tamil, which was circulated amongst churches and civil society groups.
The Missions created awareness on safety measures for COVID-19 amongst pastors by circulating trilingual digital booklets.

We documented the violation of democratic principles during the COVID-19 crisis. Young people who have been trained under our ACT NOW programme are now assisting in the monitoring and documentation of social justice issues taking place during the pandemic.
The YEA initiated a mental health campaign through its blog 'Paan Kade' to encourage practices that help build and maintain mental health during the crisis. For private circulation only

The RLC, through its MinorMatters platform, launched the Digital Citizenship Toolkit. This trilingual guide seeks to engage and educate the general public on what it means to be a digital citizen in the context of hate speech and misinformation.
The YEA carried out a campaign promoting resources for one’s mental well-being during the crisis. 06 | ISSUE ONE

On World Health Day, we raised a call to prayer for those affected by the virus and the Medical and Health Workers.
