WELCOME by the time this article is published, California’s Prop 64 adult use cannabis initiative will have passed. California passed a state medicinal cannabis legislation bill already, which is coming into affect in 2018. Between the two pieces of legislation, California will never be the same again. This initiative has deeply divided our community. Whether you were for or against Prop 64, everyone agrees that we’ve entered new, uncharted waters. I know we’re going to have to deal with big business coming after our industry, but heck, they’re already here to stay. Everyone needs to dedicate themselves to creating the finest flowers and products we could hope for. Do that and you’ll be fine. As it is, we’ll still have a thriving black market for the next few years while the legal adult use market takes over. This will give cannabis farmers a chance to survive either way for years to come. But with the traditional agriculture communities lining up to come on board, we will see one acre farms throughout California sprout up seemingly overnight. At some point there will be a glut of production on the market. Small cannabis farmers are going to be in for a fight for their lives over the next decade and beyond. On the other hand, there will be an abundance of opportunities to seize upon in this newly regulated playground. I can only imagine how large the cannabis economy will become. Fifty billion a year? A hundred? Five hundred? A trillion? The skies the limit! After waiting over forty years of my adult life for this to become a reality, the dream of seeing California proclaim itself a truly legal cannabis state is here to stay. What’s that mean for The Emerald Cup? What started out as a bunch of outlaws demanding their right to celebrate the fall cannabis harvest with a small friendly competition will have evolved by next year to the point where no one will even need a medical license and people from all over the world will be welcome to join us and have a toke. We’ll have even more of an opportunity to inspire, teach, and guide cannabis farmers, spreading our vast knowledge and wealth of information across the globe. And it means that this years Emerald Cup will be the first event following the voter approval of Prop 64. We plan on doing things right and putting on a party that no one in our community will ever forget. Each year, I wonder how we’re going to top the last year’s Emerald Cup. I truly understand the anxiety that event producers go through in trying to add more bang for the buck every time they fire up their events. They know they will be judged by every attendee on the merits of the show. Its like waiting for a new CD by your favorite band and hoping you won’t » 14

WELCOME continued be disappointed. Or going to an amusement park and running through the gate to be the first in line for the latest ride. Everyone wants to be dazzled, blown away, and nothing short of satisfying those high bars will suffice. With that in mind, we’ve gone out of our way to ensure that, once again, no one will be disappointed. With the Emerald Cup growing so quickly the past three years, it was all we could do to keep up with the basics. I’m the first one to admit my background isn’t in producing events that draw over twenty thousand people for the weekend. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished over the years, but I knew we could soar even higher in regards to providing everyone with a memorable weekend. Dan Sheehan, partners with Thomas Cousins in Ineffable Live, has booked the event for the past couple of years. This year we’ve entered into a long term partnership with Dan and Thomas to ensure the Cup continues to set the pace in delivering you the experience you dream of having. With Dan and Thomas on board, my co-producer and daughter Taylor and I can focus on the contest, the speakers and panels, and the various aspects of the event that need our attention. We can actually host the event throughout the weekend, mingle with the crowd and even take in a panel or two, rather than race around the fairgrounds dealing with all the inevitable challenges of overseeing an event this size. In the past the only way I got a chance to take in the Cup was through the videos taken of the panels, workshops, interviews, and the fairgrounds. I feel like I’ve barely been able to attend my own show. With so many changes in our industry unfolding at break neck speed, its going to be a blast be able to catch up on the most up to date happenings in our industry. We’re also excited about the long range possibilities for co-producing other events together around the state and country. The first move we made this year was to sign Damian Marley to be our headliner. Damian was one of the few artists that was still on my bucket wish list! He’s just compiled a new record, titled “Stony Hill.” This is his first new release in years; and from what we’ve heard, its an amazing cache of roots, rock, and reggae! Concurrently, Damian, his manager Dan Dalton, and Dan’s family were inquiring into the purchase of the Coalinga State prison, intending to transform it into a fully-functioning cannabis complex. Our partnership with each other was destined to be. In order to introduce and celebrate their new company Ocean Grown, The Emerald Cup and Ocean Grown will be hosting a Friday night pre-party! We then signed Dirty Heads, another act we’d all been wanting to see. Add Stick Figure, Tribal Seeds, Hirie, and many other fine artists, to the mix, and somehow we came up with our best lineup yet! Two days of top notch music and exciting challenges for everyone just trying to figure out what to do and see. The heart and soul of The Emerald Cup will always be rooted in honor of the farmers who choose to grow outdoor and organi-

cally. It’ s a friendly competition that continues to elevate industry standards because we’re always striving to inspire cannabis farmers to farm organically and to create quality, integrity based products for our families and the community at large. With this in mind, we’re pleased to feature two additional titles to the Award Ceremony. The competition started out solely as a flower contest and has expanded over time to include awards for concentrates, tinctures, salves, edibles, and CBDs. When we refused to allow concentrates that were extracted by Butane (BHO) from entering the competitions, it then catalyzed the development of a technique, which resulted in what is now known as “Rosin.” This natural way of extraction, which also inspires patients to transition from smoke to vapor, has riveted the marketplace since then. I foresee that one of these years we will have more rosin entries than flowers, as more and more folks are focusing on maximizing the level of their experience with this medicine. Personally, I’m not against BHO oil. I recognize that many companies are indeed creating a quality product when it’s produced with pharmaceutical grade Butane and created in a permitted laboratory. As soon as the state deems extraction labs as permissible, and pharmaceutical grade BHO is readily available, The Emerald Cup will gladly welcome BHO into the competition. We are allowing CO₂ cartridges and oils into the competition this year. CO₂ has been used for years in the many types of legal extraction processes across the country and this manner of extracting medicine from flowers and trim should never have » the emerald cup 2016 17

WELCOME continued come into question by the government anyway. With so many companies announcing new products that have been derived from CO₂, more and more folks are going to be getting their medicine from some form of this extraction. With concentrates rapidly taking over, breeding for traits that bode well for strains that deliver optimum oil, along with the terpenes and flavors that the public is desiring, has become the latest great quest. The OG and the strains that have been long sought after and have dominated the gene pool over the past twenty years are giving way to the publics desire for a more distinct set of flavors and terps. OG still dominates the flowers market but isn’t the top choice of the concentrate crowd. And there are so many new flavors to fall in love with. Skittlz, Tanjie, Black-Lime, Durban-Sherbert, and many others are inspiring farmers and breeders across the board to constantly search for the next great strain! In fact, we’re looking at an ever increasing move from the old smoking of flowers to the exciting new world of concentrated cannabis products that are vaporized rather than smoked. From six star full melt, to top of the line rosin, to cartridges that have been sourced from bud, the fickle public is demanding higher and higher quality levels for their discriminating palates. I agree with Steve D’Angelo of Harborside Wellness center when he says that flowers are going to be a small part of his shelf space in the years to come. Concentrates have and will make such an overwhelming impact on our marketplace that things are never going to be the same again. I miss my joints but my lungs love the vape pens and dabs. Smoking joints will soon be a thing of the past for most folks. The second award which we have added is the “Regenerative Farm Award.” The idea behind this is that we are waking up to the reality that we are not living in harmony. We are taking more than giving back. We are depleting our soil and local resources due to our modern-day lifestyle of convenience. We need to ensure our soils are “Living soils”, we need to regenerate our farms, and make sustainable farms that are models for not just the cannabis industry, but for all types of farming across this country and the earth. Cannabis farmers can and should be the leader and inspiration for best farming practices globally. And so, we were inspired by Jesse Dodd of BioVortex and Jeremy Plumb of Farma to honor those farms that are demonstrating their devotion to mindfulness within their farming practices. The vetting of this award, spearheaded by Jesse Dodd of BioVortex, is essentially the union of Cannabis cultivation with Applied Permaculture. The practice of these principals is reflected in the health of the overall ecosystem on which the farm is located. Sure enough, this input is also evident on full spectrum lab tests performed on flowers grown in “living soil,” and is proven to be the purest. Jesse is backed by a great team of professionals representing organizations such as
Compliant Farms, Green Source Gardens, Farma, EnviroCann, and SoilScape Solutions just to mention a few! All Emerald Cup award winners will be added to the Phylos Galaxy, an online, opensource three dimensional map of the lineage of each known strain. (http://www.phylosbioscience.com/the-phylos-galaxy/) I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’m constantly just trying to keep up with and not be left behind by all the latest updates in farming techniques, medical uses of cannabis, the latest concentrate extraction techniques, and, of course, all the legal issues we’re constantly chasing around. There are so many interesting fields of expertise developing in the cannabis world a person could spend their whole life just trying to stay on top of one aspect of it. The Emerald Cup started out as a small act of rebellion, and it has risen up with the rest of the cream of the cannabis world to sit on top of the fastest growing segment of the agricultural and industrial world. Seemingly, overnight we’ve become the biggest thing since sliced bread. Only, way more valuable and of critical importance to every aspect of our health and well-being. I couldn’t be more proud of us. We’re doing something that will be talked about and written about for centuries to come. Cannabis is being brought back to it’s rightful place at the head of the agricultural and business world! And boy, do we and our sacred herb deserve it or what? I look forward to seeing everyone at the Cup this year and celebrating our success! — Tim Blake

“
You took 30 days of hell of the trimmers -arguing over who got the bigger buds, feeding them, stealing the pot, etc. I used to have 20 to 30 trimmers daily for 30 days or more. Ultra trimmer made it to where I could hire four people and be done in 4 days! This thing is amazing!”

We’ve grown in Northern California for 40 years ... Until I saw this machine I thought I had heard it all. I called the toll free number set up a demonstration. Even witnessing it firsthand, I could not believe there was a machine out there that did not destroy the trichomes or the bud.

OUR PAST, PRESENT, & THE FUTURE in the fall of 2003, Tim Blake and a friend were discussing the fact that Mendocino had the best bud on the planet but no form of acknowledgment or celebration for it. That was when everyone was afraid of having a public competition. We put out no press – just some last minute posters and word of mouth – and 23 entries into the ganja contest came forward. The crowd was small, with very few even willing to be in the house with their faces seen, much less come forward for their prizes. Still, it was a wild night, everyone had a ball, and other than the inevitable undercover agents, it was pleasantly uneventful. The next year, we took the event public, putting up more posters, talking to more people, pushing the envelope. Slowly we crept into the light. Forty-three entries were put up, and the bud was overall much better than the year before, because growers had begun cultivating their plants in the full sun as opposed to hiding them under the trees. The show was headlined by the Avalon All-Stars with Vince Welnick (former keyboard player with The Grateful Dead and The Tubes) sitting in. By the third now-annual Emerald Cup competition, we all had medical permits, and everyone was growing in the full sun. Marijuana was blooming right into mainstream America. The fourth year we had 51 entries and in 2009 there were 99, all organic, grown in the sun as God intended. In 2010, we had our banner year of over 150 entries. In 2011, we started to incorporate more speaker panels throughout the day as educating our attendees became just as important as listening to music and celebrating. Along with the competition, we also chose to
give out Lifetime Achievement Awards to some of our heroes in the cannabis industry who had dedicated their lives to this movement. Over the 8 years we had The Emerald Cup at Area 101, legends including Eddy Lepp, Jack Herer, Valerie Corral, and Ed Rosenthal graced our stage. In 2012, we finally outgrew our property in Laytonville and moved The Emerald Cup to up to Humboldt County at The Mateel Center in Redway. We were blown away by the turnout as people came from all over the state for our solvent-less concentrate contest and to honor the sun-grown cannabis movement, gaining us a lot of attention. The Emerald Cup again moved to a bigger venue in 2013, with hopes that the cannabis movement would grow with us. After we approached a few of the different fairgrounds across Northern California, the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa gracefully offered us a chance to bring our idea of a cannabis country fair to reality. It was a difficult choice for us to leave the Emerald Triangle, but serving our growing community with a bigger, better event made the move necessary. Last year, we decided to expand our contests to include organic edibles and topicals. Every year our entry numbers have steadily increased, but none of us could have predicted seeing 684 flower entries submitted in 2014. And this year we’ve top over a thousand entries! The new contests were also a huge success. This year we’ve added a CO₂ category, along with a Regenerative Farm Award. With Damian Marley and Dirty Heads set to headline, our musical acts have somehow gotten better once again. Tim and his daughter Taylor have been joined by Dan Sheehan and Thomas Cousins of
Ineffable Live Music Group as Associate Producers and partners. The Emerald Cup family is continuing to expand to keep up with the demands of producing the largest and best cannabis competition and gathering in the world! With the passage of Prop 64 and the state cannabis legislation (MRKSA), California has taken back her lead as far as cannabis legalization. Things will never be the same. This years Emerald Cup is going to be the first cannabis gathering since Prop 64 was passed by the voters of our glorious state! Our discussion sessions and workshops are filled with nationally and internationally renowned experts. We’ve taken over even more of the fairgrounds and added dozens more vendors (both inside and outside the medical 215 area). We’ve increased the number of great options for organic food; two stages, three lecture halls, and much more! Our 13 competition titles took in entries from across California – check them out on display at The Emerald Cup, and join us to honor the best of the best at The Emerald Cup Awards on Sunday. A huge thanks goes out to the countless family, friends, neighbors, and community members whose love and support enables us to produce this event each year. We are honored to serve the cannabis community with The Emerald Cup, and the possibilities are limitless as we look forward to future years in the new era of cannabis legalization. It is a brave new world and we’re going to guide the folks of California and the rest of the world towards a fully integrated cannabis nation. Blessings, Tim Blake

However, with the right practices cannabis can also be grown in a way that can help heal the environment. This year, the Emerald Cup is excited to give birth to a new paradigm in cannabis competition. We created the Regenerative Cannabis Farm Award to honor those farms that are cultivating in a way that promotes environmental health while growing safe, pure, high-quality medicine. In doing so, we hope to create a catalyst of positive competition filled with information sharing, land stewardship, ethical marketing, watershed consciousness, and love of nature, living soil and biodiversity. We want the cannabis industry to be excited about and influenced by permaculture, natural farming, and biodynamic principles

GLASS AWARDS & ARTISTS the emerald cup has evolved from being a flowers only competition to holding more and more space for the plethora of value added products. We spare no expense in creating unique one-of-a-kind, handblown glass prizes, created by some of the finest glass blowers in the world. We've been blessed to have luminaries like Banjo and Darby create pieces for our previous winners. Our long time friend and lead in the procurement of the prizes (Eric the glass guy) is back at the helm of the contest. This year we have the great fortune of having Ari, Don Rob, Steve Bates, Jared Delong, and Mr. Gray working their magic for our winners. We would like to give the deepest thanks to all the artist’s and growers that participated in this year’s Emerald Cup. We want to give a special thanks to Tim Blake founder of this epic event. Last but definitely not least we would like to give thanks and praises to all the attendees of this years festivities. Remember folks: PLEASE STAY ON THE GRASS.
steve bates started his journey into glass in High School. He grew up in rural Maine. In high school, Steve’s art teacher had a soft glass table with a hot head torch setups in the classroom. At the age of 15, he started by making beads. There were some local glassblowers in his area and he was able to hang out and watch them work. By 19, he was making pipes. He realized early in his college days that formal schooling was not his thing. He then spent one summer paving driveways before he decided that he wanted to blow glass for a living. His style has evolved over the years. He is constantly looking for the next thing that will inspire him and keep him motivated. While Steve is very well known for his clear functional pieces, he started out working with color. Then Steve spent 2 semesters at Salem Community College studying Scientific Glass Technology. This scientific influence along with the fact that clear was becoming popular in the functional glass world changed Bates’ work significantly.
In 2010, Bates helped to start Hitman Glass. His scientific based designs were part of the original product line. Steve also participated in the 2010 Emerald Cup and we are glad to have him back this year. jared delong was born and raised in California, in the rural mountain community of Bonny Doon. His love for art was clear at an early age. Naturally talented, he drew and painted with a passion. Accomplished in two-dimensional art but seeking more of a challenge, Delong pursued work in a threedimensional medium. In 1996 he worked at LundbergnStudios as a finisher for other artists work. He then went on to apprentice at Steven Lundberg's Santa Cruz studio in 1998, where he learned to facet and create sculpted works in hot glass from torchwork artists, who had paid homage to the organic forms of the Art Nouveau glass designers since the 1970's. DeLong's own glass art exhibits these far reaching influences, yet proves his talents as an imaginative contemporary visual artist. Jared in on Instagram as: @delongglass. ari rom's been melting glass for about 10 years. He learned the ropes in the scientific glass field making custom apparatus for distillation and cryogenics. While working with Hitman Glass he was able to make the transition from being an east coast factory man to a west coast pipe maker. Currently based out of Humboldt County, Bluegrass Glass, A two man team, best known today for the WonderLamp series, Ari (Bluegrass Man) and Brian (Don Rob) seek to find the balance between scientific and artistic glassblowing. Feeling blessed to have the opportunity to make the awards for the greatest cannabis growers in California, and to be part of such an epic event!

Growing up on the frontline of the war on drugs instilled in Hezekiah a deep-rooted passion for cannabis policy reform and social justice. As the Executive Director of the California Growers Association he is now spearheading a historic community organizing effort to bring together cannabis growers and business owners throughout the state. Neil had already developed a unique method of commercially producing Endo Mycorrhizae for use in restoration, agriculture, and forestry. John saw the potential of his father’s accomplishments and wanted introduce this product to the world of conscious gardeners, later becoming known as MYKOS. With Xtreme Gardening beneficial microbes, gardeners are no longer limited by chemical fertilizers and are able to unlock their plants’ true potential while reaching new levels of production.

Tom Alexander published Sinsemilla Tips in 1979 in Corvallis, Oregon after getting arrested with over 2,100 plants. Charges were dropped almost immediately but three sheriff deputies stole the evidence since it wasn’t needed in a court case and were arrested by the State Police. Outraged at their light sentences of probation, Alexander wanted to write a book but local grower friends convinced him to publish an ongoing magazine. Sinsemilla Tips was known around the world for introducing new and innovative indoor and outdoor techniques for cultivating Cannabis such as Sea of Green, Screen of Green, clones, advanced pruning, breeding strains, HID lighting, and organics using mycorrhizal fungi, guanos, humid and fulvic acid. When every issue came out, Alexander would take a road trip to Southern Oregon and Northern California to distribute the magazine and also touch base with growers in the region to find stories to publish. Sinsemilla Tips had numerous Humboldt and Mendocino growers writing articles under pen names. Alexander published Sinsemilla Tips for ten years until the DEA went after all of its advertisers in Operation Green Merchant.

The purpose of my life is to be a courageous leader of courageous humans like those in my Probiotic Farmers Alliance. To help avoid mass starvation and coming plagues due to today’s agricultural and nutritional ignorance. To freely share as much knowledge on probiotic microorganisms, competitive exclusion, and the wisdom behind sub irrigation as humanly possible. To physically distribute as much Gro-Kashi type solid state fermentations as possible while I’m here on this planet and have it continue after my passing. To enjoy my life’s work and have it empower me because it meets my own human needs during the process.

FRITZ CHESS ROBERT CLARKE
Emma Chasen has a mission to educate people on the science behind Cannabis so that they may take charge of their own healing. After graduating from Brown University in 2014 with a degree in Medicinal Plant Research, Emma went on to coordinate Clinical Oncology trials with the Brown University Oncology Research Group. When her supervisor refused a Cannabis trial in favor of another expensive pharmaceutical drug, Emma quit and headed across the country to Portland, OR. She found her way to Farma, the popular Portland dispensary that takes a more scientific approach to Cannabis; rejecting the Indica/Sativa binary and instead focusing on chemotypes to determine effect. There she has been able to study the plant and help patients reframe their relationship with Cannabis as medicine. She now manages Farma and helps to train staff on Cannabis science, research and empathetic patient care. She was recently named Portland’s Best Budtender
In 1993, Fritz Chess read an article about a pharmaceutical company that sent researchers into remote locations to find indigenous people who used botanicals to cure illness. If these researchers found two separate groups who used the same botanical to cure the same illness, they brought it back to study and to find ways to make the medicine available worldwide. This ignited a spark in Fritz to work to unlock the secrets of multitude of botanicals using a variety of extraction and distillation processes for the pure science of it and to find more healthful and natural ways to produce products for human consumption. For more than 20 years, Fritz Chess has been an innovator of extraction technologies. His intellectual curiosity paired with a degree in science journalism has made him the leading expert in the extraction industry. Whether he is innovating new technologies for his Hi-Flo CO 2 systems or creating a new protocols for Eden Lab’s Coldfinger tm Units, Fritz continually sets the stage for the future of the extraction industry.

Standing on these successes Alex and Solstice have been very active at the state level and were key resources to the WA Liquor and Cannabis Board to develop the rules for the implementation of I-502, Washington’s cannabis legalization. In addition to working with multiple state agencies Alex has worked with the Washington State Legislature to craft better laws for patients and adult use consumers. In recent years Alex has been crisscrossing our country speaking at industry events helping to guide the industry in a positive direction and last year lobbying the US Congress to reform federal policy. Only very recently Alex has worked to shape international policy at the UN General Assembly Special Session on Global Drug Policy.

KELLY DUNN Dragonfly Earth Medicine (Josh, Kelly and Sky) is a family owned run business and farm. We started growing food and medicinal plants in 1994 in Oregon. We moved to the mountains of British Columbia in 1998. This is where our long-term dream of Dragonfly Farm was homesteaded by hand on a southwest facing slope using values, teachings and beliefs from permaculture, Eco building, natural farming, herbology for plants, mycology, soil building, seed saving, microbiology, homeschooling, self sustainability and closed loop systems. We grow huge medicinal cannabis plants using only plants to feed our crops because we do not have access to purchase nutrients because we are so isolated. This has led to a vast education in fermenting, juicing, burning, growing and wild-crafting our own nutrients.

State Assemblywoman from 2006 to 2012. She was the 112th woman to ever be elected to the State Legislature and the first Asian American woman to serve as Speaker pro Tempore of the California State Assembly.
Husband and wife Eliza Luca-Mahmood and Nick Mahmood started growing legal cannabis in 2014 on their 80-acre Southern Oregon farm Green Source Gardens, which they call a reservation. Their motto? This one won’t surprise you: “Trust in nature.” Their focus is to use biologically diverse soil, permaculture and dynamic accumulators, that is, plants that gather nutrients in their leaves and can be used as fertilizers. In 2015, they grew 10 different strains, plus medicinal mushrooms. They also strive to help growers create their own diverse plants, writing a detailed blog about earth-conscious growing. Eliza and Nick met in Arizona, where they first got into natural farming as they pursued what they call “the Prescott food revolution,” where they incorporated backyard farming into people’s diets. In 2012, the Mahmoods moved to Oregon in 2012 to work at Hanley Farm, a 37-acre farm started in 1857. They started growing medicinal weed once they got to Oregon, finding it more financially beneficial than vegetable crops. “It makes sense to incorporate a crop that could allow you the opportunity to buy a farm and be able to make a living,” Nick says. “It definitely helps that it’s valued more in society than vegetables. I don’t think people value vegetables at all. Cannabis is priced by the gram; vegetables are priced by the pound.” Nick also says that if you want to farm vegetables, the amount you need to grow for the venture to be financially feasible is usually destructive to the earth. “Even on a small scale, annual vegetable production on a couple acres, all of a sudden, you’re not taking care of the land anymore. You’re making sacrifices. Land care gets put on the backburner for production sake,” he says.

His weekly column has run in the Anchorage Daily News for over 36 years, never missing a single week even for vacations. One of the most humorous and entertaining lecturers on the circuit, Jeff is also a lawyer and the combination of garden writing and law have earned him the moniker of “America’s Dirtiest Lawyer.” Jeff grew up as an indentured servant on his parent’s hobby farm in Scarsdale, New York. There he was forced to plant, weed, mow, pick fruits, flowers and vegetables on 8 acres replete with acre vegetable gardens, a Versailles style formal flower garden, a 100 tree fruit orchard and enough rhubarb to have to have it every day, all year long until he went to college. One day back in the early 70’s, he was held up and shot in Boston. As a result he ran as far away as he could go without a passport and ended up in Anchorage, Alaska where he has practiced law and been able to translate his work-filled childhood into a meaningful and enjoyable hobby. Jeff hosted one of Alaska public televisions most popular shows “Alaska Gardens with Jeff Lowenfels.” The show was so popular, at one point it ran four times a week and played in Barrow. He is host of a weekly, two hour call in radio show. Jeff is an extremely respected and popular national garden writer. He is the former president of the Garden Writers of America, was made a GWA Fellow in 1999 and was inducted into the GWA Hall of Fame, the highest honor a garden writer can achieve, in 2005. Most important, Jeff is the founder of a now national program that started as “Plant a Row for Bean’s,” the soup kitchen in Anchorage, and is now “Plant A Row for The Hungry.” The program is active in 48 states and resulted in over a million pounds of produce being donated to feed the hungry every year.

the Operations Manager at True Humboldt. Born in Mendocino in the seventies to “Back to Lander” parents, she shares the core values of environmental sustainability, community service and mindful cultivation that formed the foundation of this unique culture in the Emerald Triangle. Leaving Mendocino as a young child, Chrystal spent her childhood years in an agricultural community on the border of Mexico in Southwestern Az where her mother worked in vegetable seed sales and production in large scale agriculture. Immersed in corporate agriculture and unsustainable practices, the lifestyle and culture of the rural homesteads in Northern California seemed like a distant fairytale. In the late 90’s Chrystal returned to the hills of Humboldt County, determined to live the idyllic rural farm of the Emerald Triangle. For the past 16 years, she and her husband raised their two children off the grid learning permaculture and farming techniques deep in the rural Humboldt mountains. They grow in raised beds and make nutrient rich teas using native soils and compost from the property. With the passage of Humboldt Countys recent land use ordinance, Chrystal has had the opportunity to move her farm from their Klamath mountain homestead to the fertile ag land of the Eel River valley. Things have come full circle, where she can now bring her agriculture background to her permaculture roots and take her farm to the next level using alluvial soil, IPM and advanced dry farming techniques.

California. He is a cultivator of awardwinning, organic, and sustainably-grown cannabis. A passionate advocate for the plant, Karl entrenched himself in activism at an early age. At only eighteen years old he became the Associate Director of NORML in Milwaukee, WI. Working under freedom-fighter Ben Masel of the legendary Great Midwestern Harvest Festival, Karl ended up in a van with Jack Herer, Elvy Musikka and Debbie Goldsberry on the 1990 Hemp Tour. Karl is an outspoken advocate for ecological stewardship of the Earth. He builds soil, practices no-till farming, and experiments with many practices such as biodynamic preparations and using probiotics. He does not use bottled or micronized nutrients, nor does he apply compost teas. Karl believes instead in the cycling of nutrients. Living in the Redwoods, he observed how the world’s largest trees are fed by layers of accumulated biomass strung together by miles and miles of anaerobic fungi and bacterial colonies. Karl noticed how the plants living in their own biomass suffer little to no susceptibility to pests and he has brought that concept into his farming techniques, mulching with decaying plant matter and leaving soil layers undisturbed. Worms, bugs, bacteria, and fungi flourish, nourishing the soil and the plants living within it. Karl believes the root of plant susceptibility to problems like pests is human intervention in Mother Nature’s design. This belief is reflected in Eden Farms motto, “Water, Soil, Love.”

ARDEN PARK ROOTS 12:00 - 1:00 pm Arden Park Roots was built in a garage... like a classic car that you wrench on til it’s perfect. They have been busy in that garage; In 2013 and 2014, they set all-time attendance records of over 7000 headlining one of Sacramento’s annual Concerts in the Park series. In 2014, they completed their first national tour and in late spring released their fourth album "BURNING THE MIDNIGHT OIL." The album was released to rave media and fan reviews and continues to grow in popularity with sales through iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon. In 2013 they became the first and only local band to sell out tickets headlining for Sacramento’s largest downtown rock venue, the Ace of Spades (Capacity 1,000). In 2012, after receiving three Sacramento News and Review “SAMMIES” for “Best Reggae/Rock/Funk band they were inducted into the Sacramento Music Hall of Fame alongside legends Papa Roach, the Deftones, Cake and Tesla. In late 2011, they released their third full-length album “PIPE DREAMS.” The album released made huge waves as the herbal advocates mixed many styles to create a fresh new sound. It debuted at #2 on iTunes and remained in the top 100 for almost two years. APR has established a commanding presence in the California music scene. Their sounds include surf, roots and rock. It ranges from classic to modern searing guitar solos that smooth out and give the ear what it needs; Sexy, crawling bass lines that warm the room; Beats that make you dance; Vocals that amplify to reach the ears, heart and soul. They have set sail and toured relentlessly over the past 7 years... from the west to the east, north to the south... playing over 150 shows a year and putting out 4 full-length albums. Their tours continue nationally and their fan base (Over 26,000 on FB) and venues keep getting larger. “Our latest album, Burning the Midnight Oil is receiving reviews beyond what we thought possible... the people love it, we love it... we love them. We are truly humbled. Thank you all.” - APR
THRIVE 1:45 - 2:45 pm Since 2008 Santa Cruz based pop/rock/reggae band Thrive has been paving their path in the music world. In October 2010 the relatively unknown band put out their album Gratitude Attitude and would shock the scene. The album would reach number 4 on the iTunes Reggae Charts and would start the motor for the machine that is called Thrive. Thrive would build on their success with regional tours with front running reggae artists SOJA, Iration and Tribal Seeds, along with statewide headlining tours on their own and massive shows with other artists including Rebelution, JBoog, The Green and Katchafire. In May 2013 Thrive released full-length record: "Relentless" which debuted #3 on iTunes Reggae Chart and #6 on Billboard Reggae Charts. Thrive's brand new EP dropped in July 2015 and they our now touring in support of the release.
RAGING FYAH 3:30 - 4:30 pm Regarded as one of Jamaica’s most promising young acts, the band Raging Fyah makes music that is tethered to their island’s enduring, much emulated roots rock reggae tradition yet is distinguished by an expansive vision that propels their musical journey forward. The band received critical acclaim for the intricate harmonies, nuanced musicianship and impressive songwriting skills showcased on their previous self-released albums, Judgement Day (2011) and Destiny (2014), while songs such as the redemptive “Nah Look Back” and the spiritually enriching “Jah Glory” earned comparisons to legendary reggae outfits including England’s Aswad and Steel Pulse, and Jamaica’s beloved Third World. One of few self contained groups (as opposed an artist’s backing band) within contemporary Jamaican music, Raging Fyah is now poised for a significant impact upon America’s vast reggae landscape (dominated by homegrown bands) with the Spring 2016 release of Everlasting, their debut album for VP Records’ Dub Rockers imprint. Recorded live at Kingston’s legendary Tuff Gong Studios producer Llamar “Riff Raff” Brown (whose credits include Stephen and Damian Marley, Richie Spice, T.O.K and 2016 Grammy Award winners Morgan Heritage) incorporates broad based influences, various acoustic subtleties, and a few guest artists, all of which enhances as well as expands Raging Fyah’s established reggae identity. “Working on this album was very exciting but challenging; we wanted to stay within the context of who Raging Fyah is, but we never want to box ourselves in either,” explains the band’s bassist/backing vocalist Delroy “Pele” Hamilton. “Being free spirited as musicians, we spend many hours jamming all kinds of music when we rehearse so we said why not use some of what we feel naturally on our record?” Pele, Demar and Anthony Watson (drums, backing vocals) met while studying music at Kingston’s Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, under the tutelage of Ibo Cooper, former keyboardist with Third World. They joined forces with veteran guitarist Courtland “Gizmo” White and formed Inside Out in 2002 before changing their name to Raging Fyah in 2006. The band spent years backing artists at major stage shows in Jamaica; their long held ambition to perform original music became a reality when Kumar Bent signed on as lead singer in 2010. Kumar attended Edna Manley College a few years after his band mates, initially studying piano; at Cooper’s insistence he began writing and singing his own songs. Kumar’s supple expressive tone persuasively delivers Everlasting’s array of personas, including the playful suitor on the album’s first single “Dash Wata”, the Jamaican roots revolutionary on “RaggaMuffin” and the enlightened soldier in Jah Army on “Getting Dread” Each mood is ideally complemented by the band’s finely honed, faultlessly taut grooves. Certain to be one of 2016’s most celebrated releases, Everlasting signifies a milestone in Raging Fyah’s career by raising the bar on their already lofty musical standards. “The challenging lyrics on Everlasting challenged what we were able to do as musicians,” says Demar. “Musically, we kept our roots but went way beyond them because there is not just one shape to fyah, it takes on different forms.” the emerald cup 2016 63

HIRIE 4:30 - 5:30 pm Hirie — the frontwoman of the exhilarating reggae band HIRIE — grew up a global citizen. Her father worked for the United Nations and she was born in the Philippines, spent years in Italy, before her family settled in Hawaii, which became her spiritual home. While in Hawaii, Hirie fell in love with reggae music, and took to the culture naturally. On the radio, and in conversation, she would hear the exclamation “irie.” The popular reggae term is derived from a Jamaican patois, and it encompasses warmth and positivity—it’s a greeting, an affectionate term of approval, and a mindset. In these painfully complex times, we could all use some irie in our life. Hirie’s immersion into the reggae lifestyle came at a young age through growing up in Hawaii, after stints living in the Philippines and Italy. Reggae is the top music in Hawaii, and it was only natural when Hirie emerged a singer-songwriter she would be vocalizing over skank reggae rhythms. “It’s just how I write music,” she says. At 19, when she moved to San Diego, California she made the leap from open-mic intimacy to craving the power and majesty of a full band.In 2013, she issued her debut, but it would take three years of touring to produce the septet’s defining work, thus far, Wandering Soul. True to its title, the album explores spiritual searching, the life-changing experiences of meeting new people and sharing in the profound emotions that bond music fanatics. The album also celebrates the band’s solidification as a creative powerhouse. Working together nonstop for three years sharpened HIRIE’s chops, group musical interplay, and distinct pop-reggae vision. “Living like a gypsy, I began to pose a lot of foundational questions, and being in touch with fans and people on the road enlightened me. So there is this soul searching quality to the music, it’s not religion, it’s just a general feeling of spirituality,” Hirie reveals. Wandering Soul’s lush construct reflects this depth. The songs feature chord sequences that have a sophisticated, tension and release accessibility. The musicianship is high ¬level restraint, showcasing that point of mature virtuosity where laying back implies instrumental prowess. The album’s trippy production—the bulk of it courtesy of Danny Kalb (Beck, Ben Harper, Sia)—replete with adventurous textured passages, heady dub segues, and subtle psychedelic flourishes, make it a rare headphone experience for a pop oriented record. Reflecting on the power of HIRIE, Hirie shares this story: “I met a fan who was suffering from of six tumors. He shared with me ‘Your music is the reason I get out of bed, you’re my medicine.’ That drives me to push this movement forward to share conscious music. I feel a responsibility and a duty to share a positive message.”
CALIFORNIA HONEYDROPS 6:00 - 7:00 pm THE
The California Honeydrops don’t just play music—they throw parties. Led by dynamic vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Lech Wierzynski, and drawing on diverse musical influences from Bay Area R&B, funk, Southern soul, Delta blues, and New Orleans second-line, the Honeydrops bring vibrant energy and infectious dance-party vibes to their shows. They’ve taken the party all over the world: on 9 European tours, featured slots at such premiere festivals as Monterey Jazz, High Sierra, and Outside Lands, and recent performances supporting B.B. King, Dr. John, Buddy Guy, and Allen Toussaint. Whether in those high-profile performances or in more intimate venues where the band itself can leave the stage and get down on the dance floor, the California Honeydrops’ shared vision and purpose remain: to make the audience dance and sing. Listening to Lech sing, it can be a surprise that he was born in Warsaw, Poland, and raised by Polish political refugees. He learned his vocal stylings from contraband American recordings of Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, and Louis Armstrong, and later at Oberlin College and on the club circuit in Oakland, California. Bringing all those influences together with the rest of the band’s diverse experiences into a unified musical vision, the California Honeydrops expect to play parties for a long time. the emerald cup 2016 65

STICK FIGURE 9:00 - 10:15 pm From the musical imagination of Scott Woodruff emerges a vibrant sonic soundscape, revealed in the newest Stick Figure release, Set in Stone. As with his previous releases, Set in Stone was written, produced and recorded by Woodruff, a self-taught musician. An intuitive and accomplished producer, Woodruff crafts authentic artistry from the foundation of roots-dub reggae. Cavernous grooves, sparkling electronic orchestration and thick rhythms; songs and sounds that have incubated in a studio cabin in the woods near Santa Cruz, CA, where Woodruff found solace excavating a foundation and constructing a studio, all in preparation for his most ambitious recording to date. When completed, a brotherhood of hard-jamming musicians delivers this widescreen soundtrack in concert performances of consciousness-altering emancipation. The evolution of the artist most often portrayed as a one-man band has its genesis in Duxbury, Massachusetts. An avid music fan who in high school traded bootleg CDs of his favorite artist’s unreleased demos, Scott began recording a series of albums under the moniker of Stick Figure, well before achieving worldwide acclaim or embracing the demand to play live shows. With the release of Set in Stone, Stick Figure is preparing to inaugurate the band’s most ambitious tour ever. “When I was recording those first albums I never saw myself touring or singing live,” Woodruff remembers. “We were offered our first tour in 2012 and I was in a period in my life where I was ready to take on new experiences. The band was formed, we hit the road and it’s been a blast ever since.” With Woodruff as the genial on-stage figurehead, Stick Figure concerts are gatherings distinguished by extended improvisational interludes, the mind-manifesting hues of a light show, and the much-anticipated entrance of the band’s canine mascot, a rescued Australian Shepherd, Cocoa The Tour Dog. The release of Set in Stone is a culmination of a journey that has seen the producer go from a mysterious figure to becoming a major player in the scene, virtually inventing a melodic subgenre, at a time reggae is reaching new heights of popularity.
ALEX GREY & ALLYSON GREY LIVE PAINTING 9:00 pm - 12:30 am Alex Grey's mystic paintings articulate realms of psychedelic visionary consciousness, revealing interwoven energies of body and soul, love and spirit, illuminating the anatomical core of each being. Alex Grey's visual meditations on the nature of life and consciousness, the subject of his art, have reached millions through his five books, the exhibition and extensive reproduction of his artwork, speaking appearances including a popular TED talk, stage sets for major rock bands, video animation, and Grammy award winning album art. Allyson Grey is a painter, social sculptor and Alex's creative collaborator, life partner and studio mate since art school 1975. Allyson has committed her painting career to an essentialized world view consisting of three root symbol systems: chaos, order and secret writing. On the forefront of a movement in which painters join musicians on stage, the Grey's have painted together live before tens of thousands of dancing young people at Broadway theaters in New York City, at sold-out festivals and arenas in dozens of international cities across five continents. As long-time advocates of "cognitive liberty," a growing international “sacramental culture” has embraced the Grey's as important mapmakers and spokespersons for the visionary realm.
DAMIAN “JR. GONG” MARLEY 11:00 pm - 12:30 am
Damian Robert Nesta Marley, also known around the world as “Junior Gong” and more recently as “Gongzilla” was born in 1978 to parents Bob Marley and Cindy Breakspeare, Miss World 1976. As a young adult, he developed a passion and a gift to speak for those who cannot always speak for themselves. A self-proclaimed ‘Spiritual Revolutionary’, Damian has worked assiduously to carve his own niche in music history and to add a new perspective to the Marley legacy for the 21st century. At the age of 13, Damian began performing in a group called “The Shepherds” which comprised of Shiah Coore (son of Third World guitarist Cat Coore) and currently a member of his band, and Yashema Beth McGreggor, daughter of reggae singers Freddie Mcgreggor and Judy Mowatt and then began touring with his brothers, Stephen, Ky-mani, Julian and Ziggy. By 1996, Damian had already made his stamp as a different kind of Marley when he released his first solo album “Mr. Marley”, a heavily dancehall-influenced album produced by his brother Stephen Marley. His second album “Halfway Tree” was released in 2001 by a major record label and showcased Damian’s unique gift for blending dancehall, reggae and hip-hop styles. This album won Damian much recognition and remained on the Billboard Top Reggae Album Charts for 158 weeks and earned him his first Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2002. While honored by this recognition by the global music fraternity, Damian continued to work in the studio, laying the groundwork for the tracks that would become his highly anticipated album, “Welcome To Jamrock”. The lyrics in this album presented Marley as a true spiritual revolutionary, as he used his talent to evoke a spiritual change while trying to enforce a better way of thinking. He is described as “rhyming with the conviction of a street preacher with the intellect of a university economist”. Damian’s hit single “Welcome to Jamrock” was listed as one of the Top 100 Songs of the Decade by Rolling Stone, and at the 2006 Grammy Awards, he won Best Reggae Album and Best Urban/Alternative Performance for Welcome to Jamrock. The New York Times called Welcome to Jamrock the “best reggae song of the decade.” Damian continues to tour with his band all over the world as a way of entertaining and healing as he continues to spread the message for those whose voices cannot be heard. He is working with his brothers Stephen and Julian under their Ghetto Youths International Label, to discover, develop and sign gifted artistes by applying their musical talent and vast experience to create new and different styles of music. Damian is currently in the studio working on his upcoming solo album. the emerald cup 2016 67

With live accompaniments by their five-piece band, they use heavy synths, guitars, saxophone, bass and drums to create an innovative sound that blankets audiences and leaves them in a musical stupor. While maintaining a rigorous touring schedule, the San Diego natives have also found themselves as hometown favorites, garnering recognition at the San Diego Music Awards and winning several awards including best Hip Hop album and best Hip Hop performance. An interesting feat for a band that could just as easily be called Electronic, Funk, Jam or Rap in the same breath. In addition to their accolades at home and on the road, Vokab has released several studio albums to critical acclaim. Their unique mesh of style has led them to delicious collaborations and over a dozen national syncs, including two Kia commercials, a spot on STARZ movie channel, and music on TV shows like Franklin and Bash and the Today Show. Their song World Wide was the anthem for the trailers of the new Sacha Baron Cohen movie. On the touring side, the duo is fresh off of a West Coast headline tour supporting their most recent album. They’d previously embarked on a six-month tour fronting the Run DMC Remixed tribute for Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, with appearances everywhere from Brooklyn to San Francisco to New Orleans for Jazzfest. Along with their full band, they have played countless festivals including Snowglobe, Electric Forrest and Coachella and have toured with bands of all genres, from Umphrey’s McGee to Collie Buddz to Del The Funky Homosapien. The spontaneity of the band’s live performance is what has allowed them to cross genres so effortlessly; dancers, performance artists, guest musicians and unique arrangements continue to surprise fans, and exemplify the defining aspects of a Vokab Kompany show.

TRIBAL SEEDS
5:00 - 6:15 pm From San Diego, California, award-winning reggae group Tribal Seeds have become known for their spiritually driven, refreshing rock vibe they have infused with the roots style of reggae music. Originally started by two brothers, Steven Rene Jacobo (lyrics, vocals, guitar) and Tony-Ray Jacobo (producer, keyboards, vocals). Tribal Seeds now boasts six members, including: Carlos Verdugo (drums), Victor Navarro (bass), E.N Young (keyboards, vocals) & Ryan Gonzo (guitar, vocals). Tribal Seeds’ unmatched musical talent and authentic sound has brought them to the forefront of the reggae rock genre, as their art form has reached people of all ages across the United States, and worldwide. The band’s debut, self titled album “Tribal Seeds” was released in 2008 with their second album “The Harvest” following, June of 2009. iTunes named both albums “Best Of” in the Reggae genre, for their respected years. Their debut album helped garner them the “Best World Music” title at the San Diego Music Awards in 2008, and “The Harvest,” which contained fourteen new and original songs, debuted at the number 5 spot on the Billboard Reggae Charts. The tracks, written and produced by Tribal Seeds, were recorded and mixed by Alan Sanderson at Signature Sound Studios in San Diego, and mastered by Erik Lobson at Universal Mastering. On July 19, 2011, Tribal Seeds gave listeners a brand new EP entitled “Soundwaves,” which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Reggae Charts. The band notes that the album was inspired by their life experiences, being on tour, and their desire to inspire youth to raise their voices and seek a higher consciousness. On May 13, 2014 Tribal Seeds released their highly anticipated fourth album, Representing. The new album debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Reggae Charts as well as the iTunes & Amazon charts. The new album is sure to not only reaffirm but solidify their pioneering classic blend of Roots and new era Rock-Reggae. The album brings you 12 original recordings and features some of the genres favorite stars: Don Carlos, Mykal Rose, Kyle McDonald (Slightly Stoopid), Vaughn Benjamin (Midnite), New Kingston and the band’s own, Maad T-Ray and lead guitarist Gonzo. Tribal Seeds have toured throughout the United States, and have also performed in Mexico, Guam & Aruba. They have shared the stage with artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Jack White, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction, Skrillex, MGMT, Cee Lo Green, Jason Mraz, Matisyahu, Sublime with Rome, Taking Back Sunday, O.A.R., Pretty Lights, Steel Pulse, The Wailers, Pepper, Collie Buddz, Julian Marley, Stephen Marley, Gregory Isaacs, SOJA, Rebelution, and many more.
DIRTY HEADS
7:00 - 8:30 pm After two decades spent chiseling their unique, multi-genre infused sound, Dirty Heads have finally come into their own. Since the release of their 2008 debut ‘Any Port in a Storm,’ the five-piece band — Jared Watson (vocals), Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell (vocals/guitar), Jon Olazabal (percussion), Matt Ochoa (drums) and David Foral (bass) — has consistently experimented with their sunny style, leaning heavily on reggae fused with hip-hop cornerstones and scaling back for more acoustic fare, darting between extremes. But it’s with their fifth and self-titled album that the group has felt fully confident in a body of work, ready to bring their unique style to the masses. “It’s the most core Dirty Heads album we’ve done,” explains Watson, who formed the collective with Bushnell in 1996. “One of the most important things about this album is the reason we self-titled it. This album has all of the elements that we’ve tried to play around with. We had to go through those other albums to really find out exactly who we are, where it was natural. Now, I just think our sound is better and more confident.” Recorded in Los Angeles over a period of four months, ‘Dirty Heads’ marks a stylistic heel-turn for the Huntington Beach, Calif. natives, who enlisted a diverse team of hit-makers including: Da Internz (Rihanna, Nicki Minaj), Drew Pearson (Katy Perry, Zac Brown Band), David Kahne (Lana Del Rey, The Strokes), Jimmy Harry (Madonna, Diplo), Jonas Jeberg (Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony), and a handful of others. The record spans lively tracks like reggae-bounced “Oxygen” to the instantly catchy sing-along “Too Cruel” and horn-blasted lead single “That’s All I Need,” the latter of which captures the nostalgia of carefree adolescence. Produced by Justin Gray (Mariah Carey, Joss Stone), ‘That’s All I Need’ “just has a good feel to it, kind of hanging out with your friends in the neighborhood on a Sunday in the summer back when you were growing up,” says Duddy. “Everyone’s got that good memory, so that’s where we started aiming for. Let’s make this feel-good summer song that people can put on in the backyard with their friends and family.” ‘Dirty Heads’ comes in the wake of their most successful release to date, 2014’s ‘Sound of Change,’ which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart. This album is marked differently than its predecessors — 2008’s ‘Any Port in a Storm,’ 2012’s ‘Cabin by the Sea’ and 2013’s acoustic offering ‘Home – Phantoms of Summer,’ the former of which spawned the smash single “Lay Me Down” featuring Rome of Sublime with Rome that topped the Alternative Songs chart for 11 weeks. “Nowadays, it’s so easy to just listen to one song,” he says. “Have a song on your iTunes playlist, you probably don’t even know who the artist is because it doesn’t matter, you just like that track. So we were trying to provide the order we think you should listen to these in and get people in front of what we think.” Watson adds, “When you do that and you’re doing it in our original way, I feel like it makes it timeless.” With a solid fan-base already in place, Dirty Heads are focusing their sights on something they’ve been edging towards for years: breaking the mainstream. “We want our fans to love it, because we love what we do and we want to keep doing it,” says Watson. “But this album for me, I cannot poke a hole in any of it. From front to back, it’s really so phenomenal. I’m so confident in it that I want it to take Dirty Heads from the band that we are in America, worldwide.” the emerald cup 2016 71

EVENT STAFF tim blake earned his real estate license at the age of nineteen. He was one of the founders and the CEO of several productions companies in the 1980’s. This included an audio/video production company, a music label, an original children’s program called “Eco, You, and Simon too”, and a line of “New Age” video releases. Tim is blessed to have three daughters, six grandkids, and one great granddaughter. He has owned property in Mendocino County since the early eighties. In 1998 he bought an old campground ten miles north of Laytonville on highway 101 and renamed it “Area 101”. Tim created The Emerald Cup, the world's largest outdoor cannabis competition thirteen years ago. Tim sponsored and helped produce the first gathering of law enforcement and cannabis farmers to openly discuss how they would work together. This helped lead to the creation of the original 9.31 program, whereby cannabis farmers could grow up to ninety nine plants legally with a permit from the county. Tim was one of the first cannabis farmers to join the program. He was the co-founder of the Mendocino Farmers Collective and also Healing Harvest Farms, both local cannabis dispensaries designed to help facilitate getting outdoor cannabis into the dispensaries across the state. He was a founding member of California Cannabis Reform Policy (CCPR), which evolved in CA Reform, and was also a founding member of the Mendocino Cannabis Policy Council ( MCPC). Tim was on the steering committee for the Heritage Initiative ( Measure AF), which was on the Mendocino County ballot in November, and is on the board of directors of The Mendocino Cannabis Industry Association ( MCIA). Tim's personal goal is to help the world integrate spirituality, cannabis, organic food and living into a holistic lifestyle.
