Latino Employment Status, May 2009 While the rate of job loss slowed for the country as a whole in May, Latino workers saw little indication that the recession is letting up. Compared to a national unemployment rate of 9.4%, the rate for Latinos was 12.7%1. Certain subgroups of Latino workers face alarmingly high unemployment rates, as shown in Figure 1.
