On November 9, 2013, BuildaBridge sponsored its first annual gala event, The Hopeful City. Through artwork created by city leaders, the event galvanized a collective vision for a more hopeful city environment in which children can grow & develop, and highlighted the important role the arts play in human health & development. Forty-seven leaders from Philadelphia's political, faith, social service, education, labor, corporate & cultural sectors were asked to create a picture of what a hopeful city looks like to them. We appreciate their visions, now captured in this book, and we appreciate their efforts to communicate through art-making.
