You are invited to be one of the
HOPEFUL CITY ARTISTS & to offer your vision of the
HOPEFUL CITY through the creation of a piece of art.
WHAT IS IT? On November 9, 2013, BuildaBridge will sponsor its annual gala event, “The Hopeful City”. Through artwork created by our city’s leaders, the event will galvanize a collective vision for a more hopeful city environment in which children can grow & develop, and will highlight the important role of creativity and art-making in healing children and families experiencing trauma.
WHO ARE WE? BuildaBridge is a Philadelphia-based arts education andintervention nonprofit organization that engages creative people and the transformative power of art-making to bring hope and healing to children and families living in contexts of crisis and poverty.
YOU’RE INVITED!
WHY ART?
Art-making engages young people in a process that builds resilience, helps youth communicate thoughts and ideas in new ways, form a vision for their future, and develop creative problem-solving, leadership & academic skills. A hopeful city must include a prominent and permanent place for arts involvement for all its children.
We need your participation, along with other civic, corporate, faith, and cultural leaders who are passionate about the city and its children. We invite you to be one of the Hopeful City Artists (HCA’s) that offers your vision of “The Hopeful City” through the creation of a piece of art. Each HCA will be provided with a basic kit of art materials & support from an artist, and will have 2 months to create an image of what a hopeful city looks like to them. Completed pieces will be exhibited and auctioned during the formal evening gala.
