ARTS
COURSES WE OFFER: Performing Arts: • UAL Performing and Production Arts Diploma • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dance
02
CAREER PATHWAYS: Performing Arts
The UAL course provides students with a strong start to their performance skills techniques and critical thinking. The course enables students to bring their individual strengths to the table, with opportunities in performance as well as building on reflection and analysis of other professional works. The course prepares students for the transition into higher education, if that be specialist performance training or university courses. The transferable skills students develop within the course gives learners a strong and steady step to progress. Skills such as teamwork, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, physical awareness and the ability to self-reflect and observe in order to progress. Through making, performing and responding to drama, students are given the chance to discover more about themselves, other people and the world they share. The drama and theatre curriculum aims to promote the individual’s shaping of their own identity through the experience of collective responsibility via teamwork, discussion and role-playing activities, which help them to comment on, reflect and define their culture and community as citizens of the world. The drama and theatre curriculum empowers young people to develop empathy, emotional intelligence, resilience and a strong social conscience, exploring ideas in a safe environment. Through their appreciation and review of live theatre, students develop their analytical and evaluative understanding of their own and others’ contributions and ideas, enabling them to celebrate the richness and depth of human expression in all its forms.

CAREER PATHWAYS: Performing Arts
Merging these two subjects together; Dance and Drama would provide students with a strong start to their performance aspirations, confidence and practical ability. Both courses embarks on building performance, theory and transferable skills. The confidence growth seen in students who study these courses is remarkable. All students leave our courses being strong minded, critical thinkers who can develop work independently and work extremely well in collaboration with others. Dance is more than just a form of entertainment. Dance builds connections between students and our ever-developing world; it is embedded within every culture and allows us to explore and share traditions. Studying dance also promotes opportunities for students to develop many personal and employability skills such as collaboration, discipline and adaptability that will benefit our students as they move onto face the challenges found in Higher Education or employment.
