Over-arching Educational Priorities for September 2021-22

1. Student Achievement

To identify all learning gaps which have evolved throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. This will be achieved through a combination of diagnostic testing, initial assessments and review of past assessment data. To successfully implement the assessment and intervention cycle, which will provide the necessary supportive actions to close learning gaps. To continue the relentless focus on the performance and progress of disadvantaged, SEND, LAC and EHCP students. To further promote and develop higher-level pedagogical understanding and metacognitive practice among teaching staff. Support staff to improve their own teaching practice, in order to further increase student achievement. This will be accomplished via a personalised, professional development plan, rooted in evidenced-based pedagogy and linked to the APR process.

2. Student Personal Development

To further embed and develop a wide range of extra-curricular activities, with high levels of participation across all student groups. To ensure that all students have access to this wide and varied set of experiences to develop their cultural capital, both inside and outside of the academic curriculum. To ensure teachers provide opportunities, outside of the exam specification, for students to understand and appreciate British values, equality of opportunity, inclusivity and the importance of maintaining physical and mental health. To establish and promote the completion of the Trust Baccalaureate Certificate.

3. Contribution to Social Mobility

The continuation and enhancement of the ‘Disadvantaged First’ strategy. A clear focus on supporting students beyond the academic curriculum, in order to develop their confidence, resilience and employability skills, thereby equipping them for their next phase of education, training or employment. To further enhance literacy and numeracy skills at every opportunity.

4. Staff and Student Wellbeing

To further ingrain the Trust’s vision and values amongst staff, governors and students into everyday college/academy life.
