SENIOR CHECKLIST FOR PARENTS Below is a checklist to help you stay on top of major recruiting milestones during senior year. Below each milestone is some key information that can help you check that item off your list. More details on each topic can be found in the Resource Library of your RMS, or you can always contact a Recruiting Coach at 877-845-6272 to walk you through next steps.
1. NARROW YOUR OPTIONS - Create a list of 3 reach schools, 3 realistic schools and 3 reserve schools - Know the recruiting and application deadlines for each school - Compare qualities of each school (i.e. location, major, facilities, campus life, etc.) More detailed info on Narrowing Your Options
2. APPLY TO COLLEGE - Find out which schools accept the Common Application - Tell coach you want to apply and ask about preferred application method - Submit application according to coach’s recommendation More detailed info on Applying to College
3. TAKE FINAL (OFFICIAL) VISITS - Discuss taking your final campus visit with the coach - The school usually pays for an official visit - Allowed no more than 5 official visits to DI & DII programs combined to compete at DI level - Offers typically made on visit More detailed info on Visits
4. PUT TOGETHER A SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE - You can submit your FAFSA forms beginning Jan. 1st - Review all aid opportunities for the best aid package (scholarship, work studies, grants, loans) - Discuss the school’s Packaging Policy with the admissions office More detailed info on Financial Aid
5. COMMIT - Inform the coach you’re accepting their offer - Sign and fax your NLI or Commitment Letter - Tell NCSA about your decision - Discuss summer schedule with your new coach
