TOUR NORTH AND CENTRAL CAMPUS 1 Talley Student Center

2 Artist’s Backyard

Sustainability will be front and center at this hub for student life, which expects LEED Silver certification.

Campus Bulk Waste Recycling Facility

Stormwater management never looked as good as this lowimpact, sustainable landscape – designed and built by students.

3 Cates Avenue

4 Student Health Center

Steam Plant

This pioneer for energy efficiency is an 11 megawatt combined heat and power plant that saves NC State more than $4 million a year.

Waste Reduction and Recycling Office

Healthy and sustainable, the center’s new addition is certified LEED Gold for features such as rainwater gardens, a cistern and bike facilities for alternative commuters.

6

Bragaw Residence Hall

Features all LED lighting. Like all campus buildings, Bragaw is cleaned with eco-friendly products and an ionized water sanitation system. Stop in the C-Store to enjoy some Howling Cow ice cream, an NC State-made treat.

7 Rocky Branch Greenway

Fountain Dining Hall

This path through the heart of campus parallels Rocky Branch Creek. Educational signage along the route explains how the creek was restored for improved water quality and wildlife habitats.

At all three campus dining halls, sustainability is served daily through local food choices, trayless dining that conserves water, composting and a recycling program that converts used cooking oil to biofuel.

At this frontrunner for sustainable athleticism, solar energy heats the gym’s two pools. You can also rent a WolfWheels bicycle here for use around campus.
