Concordia University’s College of Education has nationally recognized teacher preparation programs. This national recognition is awarded by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education after successful completion of a rigorous accreditation process. A process that includes a 2–3 month examination of programs followed by an on–site visit by a team of recognized experts in the field of teacher preparation. The College of Education’s programs have exceeded performance criteria established through validated research by the nation’s professional education associations for the preparation of teachers in all content areas. Concordia’s programs are aligned to the State of Illinois Professional Teaching Standards as well as the nationally recognized Interstate New Teachers Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC). Concordia follows a model of continuous improvement seeking the best ways to prepare elementary, early childhood, special education, and secondary teachers for the challenges of 21st century teaching and learning. Our graduates are placed all across the nation and the positive feedback we have received from employers and community partners encourage us in our efforts. The faculty continues to collect assessment data as they work with partner schools and community leaders to improve our programs and the performance of our teacher candidates. We will include your feedback in the continuing assessment of our programs.
