North Park University’s School of Education is committed to preparing competent, respectful, and reflective teachers who are dedicated to serving diverse learning communities. Throughout more than four decades of preparing teachers, the School of Education has actively engaged in assessment of the Teacher Education Program to insure that graduates are ready to teach in urban, suburban, and rural classrooms. The School of Education Assessment Plan is framed by candidate learning outcomes that are research-based and reflect standards for effective teachers. Candidate achievement is measured by multiple and varied assessments including performancebased measures to insure mastery. Programs are changed, developed, and enhanced based on the data from the Assessment Plan to insure ongoing growth and development. North Park University’s School of Education is committed to continuous assessment and improvement of all of our approved programs so that our graduates will be highly effective in 21st century schools and will meet the needs of 21st century learners. Though the NCTQ “study” did not connect research-based standards with candidate outcomes, we share the common goal of wanting a highly successful teacher in every classroom in every school in the state and country.
