READER: A Reading from the Word of God written in the Acts of the Apostles Chapter 13 beginning at the 44th verse The next sabbath almost the whole city gathered together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted what was spoken by Paul, and reviled him. And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, "It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, `I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.'" And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of God; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord spread throughout all the region. But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, and stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and went to Ico'nium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Reader: ALL:

Here ends the Reading. Thanks be to God.

Let us use the coming month of May to see how best we can utilise digital media to inform, educate, share knowledge about our church and spread the Gospel. !

Psalm 145 Exaltabo te, Deus 1 I will exalt you, O God my King, * and bless your Name for ever and ever. 2 Every day will I bless you * and praise your Name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; * there is no end to his greatness. 4 One generation shall praise your works to another * and shall declare your power. 5 I will ponder the glorious splendor of your majesty * and all your marvelous works. 6 They shall speak of the might of your wondrous acts, * and I will tell of your greatness. 7 They shall publish the remembrance of your great goodness; * they shall sing of your righteous deeds. 8 The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, * slow to anger and of great kindness. 9 The Lord is loving to everyone * and his compassion is over all his works.. Glory to the Father, and to the Son;*and to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning is now:*and shall be forever. Amen.

THE EPISTLE A Reading from the Word of God written in the Revelation to John Chapter 19 beginning at the 1st verse After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying, "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,…” And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who is seated on the throne, saying, "Amen. Hallelujah!" And from the throne came a voice crying, "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, small and great." Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty thunderpeals, crying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure" -- for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are true words of God." Reader: ALL:

Here ends the Reading. Thanks be to God.

THE HOLY GOSPEL Gospeller: The Lord be with you ALL: And also with you Gospeller:

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John ALL: Glory to Christ our Saviour.

When Judas had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of man glorified, and in him God is glorified; if God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, `Where I am going you cannot come.' A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." Gospeller: ALL:

From the Rector’s iPad: “Preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season” 2 Timothy 4:2 The time period from 27 B.C.E. to 180 C.E. in the Roman Empire was arguably a time of peace and economic prosperity throughout the Roman Empire. The 200 years known as the Pax Romana (Roman Peace) saw many advances and accomplishments, particularly in engineering and the arts. The Roman discovery of concrete saw the building of an extensive system of roads. These durable roads facilitated the movement of troops and communication. The Christians would use this vast network of roads in order to spread the Good News of the Kingdom of God. In similar vein the Internet today is a worldwide network which can facilitate effective Gospel communication. Today, on Internet Evangelism Day, we commend those in our parish who help in facilitating the spread of knowledge using digital media. Kathy Greenidge and Cynthia Reid who are the resource persons for computer classes and Julie-Ann Burke who manages and edits the “Twitter” page for our parish. There are also those who form our ICT Committee !

chaired by Dr. Colin Depradine and members, Kathy Greenidge, David Titus, Brenda Lashley, and Aleah Forde-McCarthy. Digital Media is being used more and more as persons by the thousands if not millions link in to social networking sites daily. Newspapers, magazines are now being read on smart phones, iPads and other tablets and e-readers. The Synod Notice this year will be in the form of electronic mail. This was approved at Synod in May 2012. Only persons without an email address will be sent a hard copy. Mrs. Cynthia Dash, The Diocesan Secretary informs that as from this year the Synod Journal can be downloaded from the Diocese’s Intranet. The Journal, she reports, plus the attachments cost a minimum of $55.46 each. With 220 copies printed each year, totalling $12,201.20, the Digital rendering will effect a tremendous saving. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will continually show us new ways of using modern Information Communications Technology in proclaiming the Good News. Your friend and priest, Noel A. Burke, MA (The Rev’d Canon) Rector !
