THE COLLECT Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: Graft in our hearts the love of your Name; increase in us true religion, ,nourish us with all goodness; and bring forth in us the fruit of good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.Amen THE FIRST READING: READER:
A Reading from the Word of God written in the Book of Jeremiah Chapter 15 beginning at the 15thverse
O LORD, thou knowest; remember me and visit me,and take vengeance for me on my persecutors. In thy forbearance take me not away;know that for thy sake I bear reproach.Thy words were found, and I ate them, and thy words became to me a joyand the delight of my heart;for I am called by thy name,O LORD, God of hosts.I did not sit in the company of merrymakers, nor did I rejoice;I sat alone, because thy hand was upon me,for thou hadst filled me with indignation. Why is my pain unceasing,my wound incurable, refusing to be healed?Wilt thou be to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail? Therefore thus says the LORD:"If you return, I will restore you,and you shall stand before me.If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you,but you shall not turn to them. And I will make you to this peoplea fortified wall of bronze;they will fight against you,but they shall not prevail over you,for I am with youto save

you and deliver you, says the LORD.I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless." Reader:: ALL:

PSALM 26 1.
Give judgement for me, O Lord, for I have lived with integrity;* I have trusted in the Lord and have not faltered.
2.
Test me, O Lord, and try me;* examine my heart and my mind.
3.
For your love is before my eyes;* I have walked faithfully with you.
4.
I have not sat with the worthless, * nor do I consort with the deceitful.
5.
I have hated the company of evildoers; * I will not sit down with the wicked.
6.
I will wash my hands in innocence, O Lord, * that I may go in procession round your altar,
7.
Singing aloud a song of thanksgiving* and recounting all your wonderful deeds.
8.
Lord, I love the house in which you dwell* and the place where your glory abides.
9.
Do not sweep me away with sinners, * nor my life with those who thirst for blood.
10.
Whose hands are full of evil plots, * and their right hand full of bribes.
11.
As for me, I will live with integrity;* redeem me, O Lord, and have pity on me.

12.
My foot stands on level ground; * in the full assembly I will bless the Lord. Glory to the Father, and to the Son;*and to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning is now:*and shall be forever. Amen
THE EPISTLE A Reading from the Word of God written in theLetter to the Romans Chapter 12 beginning at the1stverse I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I bid every one among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith which God has assigned him.For as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; he who teaches, in his teaching; he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who contributes, in liberality; he who gives aid, with zeal; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. THE HOLY GOSPEL The Lord be with you. And also with you. A Reading from the Holy Gospel according toMatthew Glory to Christ our Saviour. From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. And Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying, "God forbid, Lord! This shall never happen to you." But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me; for you are not on the side of God, but of men." Then Jesus told his disciples, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life? For the Son of man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay every man for what he has done. The Gospel of Christ. Praise to Christ our Lord.

FROM THE RECTOR’S NOTEBOOK Greetings: An excerpt from a sermon I delivered at an Ordination Mass in the St. James Parish Church, Barbados on Friday July 25, 2014. Ministry is regarded to be wider than priesthood. Persons are now engaged in ministries that do not require ordination. The development of sacraments and rites are indeed complex. The ordained ministry is one form of ministry among others therefore Louis Marie Chauvet warns, in a book entitled “Symbol and Sacrament: A Sacramental Reinterpretation of Christian Existence, that the term ordained ministry in this context is a better rendering of our ministry rather than, “priestly ministry”, or “ministerial priesthood”. It is is noted that although the priesthood of the baptised is almost ignored by Thomas Aquinas, liturgical and other theologians today have recognized the importance of various kinds of ministries. So all the baptised are configured to Christ and are not passive recipients of priestly ministry; but share actively and consciously in the person and work of Jesus Christ in the church. We are living in a time of rapid change and are being called upon to exercise a ministry in which the pursuits of science and the advancement of technology are changing the outlook of millions across the world. You are being ordained at a time when persons are prepared to shoot passenger planes out of the sky, reflective of the fact that there is little regard for human life. With so many opportunities for our young people there is still that small cohort that seems bent on a life of crime as the trade in drugs, weapons and people plague us in the Caribbean.

As we bear Christ in our hearts and practise this ministry of proclaiming the Good News in Word and Sacrament we shall find that reaching out to families will remain a core of ministry - we will also find that as persons interact more and more on the various social networks that we will need to upgrade our skills. You may very well find that your iPad, other tablet or mobile device with your book of common prayer, bible and contact list will be a vital tool in this sacred ministry. So with faith in almighty God and confidence in his sacramental grace you will stand before the bishop, your colleagues and this congregation and the bishop will ask you BISHOP: Do you now in the presence of God and of this congregation commit yourself to this trust and responsibility Not knowing the future, with no extra tools in your hand, in the abundance of your own frailty and in the context of your humanity you will answer I DO Your friend and priest, Noel A. Burke, MA,(The Rev’d Canon) Rector

wonderful breadfruit We are surrounded by breadfruits and often take this for granted. This fruit is very rich in vitamin C, dietary fibre, and potassium. The dietary fibre makes breadfruit a 'friend' of your intestines! It is also a very rich source in healthy Omega fats and it increases the body energy by supplying these three Omegas. It also supplies high energy to the person through its carbohydrates. Did you know that breadfruit makes a flour which is richer that wheat flour? Instead of letting the breadfruits drop on the ground and rot, why not make flour with them? This will save you some money and give a healthy gluten free alternative to white flour for your dumplings, bakes etc.
How to make breadfruit flour METHOD: 1. Wash and peel breadfruit. 2. Cut the breadfruit in half and remove the heart. 3. Cut halves into very thin slices, lay slices on a rack/tray in the sun to dry. This may take two days. The breadfruit become very brittle when properly dried. 4. Grind or pound breadfruit slices then pass through sieve several times (5 to 6 times) until a powdery substance is obtained. Flakes will be left behind in the sieve. 5. Store powder and flakes in separate clean air tight jars and use as required.
