THE FIRST READING: READER:
A Reading from the Word of God written in Exodus Chapter 12 beginning at the 1st verse.
The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt: This month shall mark for you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year for you. Tell the whole congregation of Israel that on the tenth of this month they are to take a lamb for each family, a lamb for each household. If a household is too small for a whole lamb, it shall join its closest neighbor in obtaining one; the lamb shall be divided in proportion to the number of people who eat of it. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a year-old male; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; then the whole assembled congregation of Israel shall slaughter it at twilight. They shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. They shall eat the lamb that same night; they shall eat it roasted over the fire with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted over the fire, with its head, legs, and inner organs. You shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn. This is how you shall eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it hurriedly. It is the passover of the LORD. For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both human beings and animals; on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I !3
am the LORD. The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live: when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. This day shall be a day of remembrance for you. You shall celebrate it as a festival to the LORD; throughout your generations you shall observe it as a perpetual ordinance. Reader: ALL:

THE EPISTLE READER: A Reading from the Word of God written in Romans Chapter 13 beginning at the 8th verse. Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet"; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, "Love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law. Besides this, you know what time it is, how it is now the moment for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we became believers; the night is far gone, the day is near. Let us then lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us live honorably as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. Reader: ALL:

THE HOLY GOSPEL The Lord be with you. And also with you.
A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew Glory to Christ our Saviour. Jesus said "If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." From The Rector’s Notebook Greetings: Our Dedication Festival is over and those who attended have been revived and reinvigorated by the week of services. The summer vacation is over and persons have returned from overseas and seaside visits and furthermore school children, parents, school administrators and teachers by now ought to be ready for the academic year. The cycle of life turns and our never ending work as a church continues until the end of the ages. We must press on with the proclamation of Gospel and constantly be inviting persons to share with us the wonderful work of worship to God almighty. It is fantastic for us to come to Mass; we must however recall our Lord’s command to the entire church to make disciples. (Matthew 28: 19-20) Every member of the congregation must recognize themselves individually as proclaimers of the Proclaimed and play a role in making the name of Christ known. This can be done by inviting those in our households, other family members, God-children and workmates to join in the celebration of the Great Thanksgiving every Sunday morning. The Psalmist states The Lord gives the command; great is the company of those who bore the tidings: (Psalm 68:11 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Over the years Barbados has benefitted from having thousands of children in our Sunday Schools across the island. The social construct of our nation has been built on knowledge of God and the principles of sacred scripture. This aspect of our life must be held dear and each one of us must shoulder the responsibility of ensuring this aspect of our national life, for the good of all and the well being of society. In our prayers we continue to ask for God’s protection during the hurricane season not only for us but for all of those in harm’s way at this time of year. We recall again the words of the Psalmist The waves of the sea are mighty, and rage horribly; * but yet the LORD, who dwelleth on high, is mightier. (Psalm 93:5 BCP 1662) We pray for those who have been disaffected by the passage of Hurricane Irma this past week and that God almighty would help us to help those who need assistance. Your friend and priest, Noel A. Burke, MA (The Rev’d Canon) Rector Every blessing to Educational Administrators, Principals, Teachers and Students as the New Academic Year begins. “The best place for back to School is Back to Church”.

HEALTH CORNER: BY SOPHIA MARSHALL, Ph.d This week we take a look at some uses of vinegar. In these challenging economic times, it offers a much welcomed cheaper alternative to some popular cleaners. However it's more than just a cleaner, take a look at the following: Fresh flowers ❖
Enhance the longevity of your beautiful freshly cut flowers; Mix 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons sugar with the water before placing the flowers in the vase.
Mortar on hands ❖
Just finished working and have mortar on your hands; Wash your hands with undiluted vinegar to remove dried concrete or mortar off your skin, then wash with warm, soapy water. Prolonged contact with wet mortar can lead to cracked skin.
Paint Smells ❖
Remove strong paint smells by placing shallow bowls of undiluted white vinegar in the freshly painted room.
Discolouration of collars
❖
Difficult discoloured rings around shirt collars or under the arms; Scrub the material with a paste made from 2 parts white vinegar to 3 parts baking soda. Let stand for a half an hour before washing.
