THE FIRST READING: READER:
A Reading from the Word of God written in the book of Habakkuk Chapter 1 beginning at the 1st verse.
The oracle that the prophet Habakkuk saw. O LORD, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not listen? Or cry to you "Violence!" and you will not save? Why do you make me see wrong-doing and look at trouble? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. So the law becomes slack and justice never prevails. The wicked surround the righteous-therefore judgment comes forth perverted. I will stand at my watchpost, and station myself on the rampart; I will keep watch to see what he will say to me, and what he will answer concerning my complaint. Then the LORD answered me and said: Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so that a runner may read it. For there is still a vision for the appointed time; it speaks of the end, and does not lie. If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay. Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faith. Reader: ALL:
Here ends the Reading Thanks be to God.

THE EPISTLE READER: A Reading from the Word of God written in the Second letter of Paul to the Thessalonians Chapter 2 beginning at the 1st verse. Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We must always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of everyone of you for one another is increasing. Therefore we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith during all your persecutions and the afflictions that you are enduring. To this end we always pray for you, asking that our God will make you worthy of his call and will fulfill by his power every good resolve and work of faith, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Reader: ALL:
Here ends the Reading Thanks be to God.
THE HOLY GOSPEL The Lord be with you. And also with you. A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke Glory to Christ our Saviour.
Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through it. A man was there named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was rich. He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see him, because he was going to pass that way. When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, !4
"Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried down and was happy to welcome him. All who saw it began to grumble and said, "He has gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner.” Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.” Then Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost." The Gospel of Christ Praise to Christ our Lord.
Holy Mass on Wednesday November 2nd at 7:00pm will be commemoration of the Faithful Departed Those attending Mass can bring the names of deceased loved ones and have them remembered during the Mass. “Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord…” !5
From the Rector’s Notebook Greetings: The Church Year is drawing very swiftly to a close. Tuesday of this week is All Saints Day and Wednesday is the commemoration of All Souls.. The Festival of All Saints seeks to gather up all of the heroes of the church in one observance as it were. We would have celebrated the respective festivals of individual saints on the calendar during the year. These would be those persons known to us, whose righteous deeds have been recorded and so we remember them. Some of them were known for their piety and devotion, others for their intellectual ability; some for courage and boldness. Among them are the martyrs - those who died for the faith that they held dear. Professor Lawrence Cunningham tells us that records of the saints started to be kept from around the 16th century. A previous pontiff in the Roman Catholic Church, Pope John Paul II said in essence that that every land has produced and can produce persons who are extraordinary in holiness and moral character. For Cunningham the saints (note the present tense) are living out the gospel reality by which the inner depth of that Gospel becomes transparent in their life and their doctrine. When we think of the saints we consider persons such as ourselves today, ordinary human beings seeking to imitate the mind, the life and teaching !6
of Christ in the exercise of the trivial round, the common task. In contemplating the lives of the saints, the view of the late Pope John Paul II remains interesting. Cunningham makes mention of the Pontiff’s encyclical entitled Tertio millenio adveniente ("The Coming of the Third Millennium”) in which the late Pope cites a number of reasons why a modern martyrology is desirable and indeed required. John Paul II stated that the Church at the end of the second millennium has been, like the Church in its beginnings, a Church of martyrs; the contemporary fact of martyrdom is the "common inheritance" of Catholics, Orthodox, Anglicans, and Protestants. These witnesses he says must not be forgotten, even those who are “nameless. This ecumenical spirit is vital and required, when we think of any modern calendar of saints. We pray for the church in our region and for those of the past who dedicated their lives to Christ and we pray for the grace to follow their holy example in our own time. Preheat oven to 350o Farenheit. Lightly butter loaf pans and then coat in flour mix of sweet potato, cassava and rice flours. Combine remaining flour mix, dry ingredients and coconut on a clean, dry counter top. Rub in butter, then add raisins and cherries. Make a ëwellí in middle of dry ingredients. Mix water and essence. Pour water mixture into well and mix using your fingertips. If dough seems too dry, add water, a few drops at a time, and mix further until dough holds together but is not wet and sticky to touch. Knead dough until its texture is even throughout. Do not knead excessively. Divide dough into 1 lb. rounds. Shape into loaves. Place in loaf pans and use a knife to carve a design into top of loaf (optional). Bake for 25 - 35 minutes, or until golden brown. Source: http://www.badmc.org/
