Northeast Dairy Foods Background
Northeast Dairy Foods Association, Inc.
BACKGROUND
Northeast Dairy Foods Association, Inc. was established in 1928 as New York State Milk Distributors, Inc. with more than 500 members. In 1978, the Association recognized the need to include and invite other segments of the dairy processing/manufacturing industry to join. We appropriately changed our name to New York State Dairy Foods, Inc. In 2008, members requested the Association expand services to all of New England and New Jersey to better serve members’ needs in those states. The name was then changed to Northeast Dairy Foods Association, Inc. Today’s membership includes small family-owned businesses to large corporations who process, manufacture and distribute quality wholesome fresh dairy products to the United States and world. The types of members include milk and dairy product processors, distributors, cheese manufacturers, ice cream plants, all cultured dairy product manufacturers (including yogurt, dairy cooperatives and some dairy farm producers). To be a member, a company must be based and/or sell dairy products in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Vermont. All memberships are approved by the Board of Directors. We encourage our members to support the Association, to be actively involved and to refer companies for membership. An application can be found on the Association’s website at www.nedairyfoods.org.
